2016-17 Predictions and Expectations

As FVV discovered, when a PG drives to the hoop, it gets brutal near the basket. A PG that isn't put together very, very well better have a mid-range pull-up shot that's deadly.

Getting closer to real games, roster and injuries have shaken out a bit. My outlook is below.

Starters for the majority of the year:

Frankamp
Shamet
McDuffie
Kelly
Morris

I expect that Daishon will get more minutes at point than Conner.

Conner will play quite a bit of 2 as the primary back-up to Landry, but Landry will get a lot of minutes.

One of CJ or Austin will get more than 10 mpg. Brown will play some two if neither earns PT.

Markis will play some 4 and Zach, Markis, and Rashard will eat up 65+ minutes at the 3/4.

Shaq will play 15-20 minutes. Rauno and Darral will split the rest of the time in the post. Darral will get some time at the 4.

I think that's the 9 man rotation plus probably some Reaves mixed in.


This team is nice and deep. In order to have a very good year:

Shaq needs to stay on the court 20 mpg

A PG needs to run the team efficiently

Conner needs to hit 40%+ from deep

Markis needs to be first team MVC

The team needs to shoot 45%+ from the field

A bump for myself, cuz that wasn't an awful prediction.

I am optimistic for the coming season and my confidence in HC3G remains unshaken -

OOC - 12-1 (lose to Louisville in the Bahamas and sweep State of Oklahoma)

MVC - 16-2 (losses @ UNI and Illinois State)

Arch Madness - 3-0

NCAA - 3 seed (31-3 record) with the Shockers favored to win Elite 8 game

Appears my optimism was not misplaced for the regular season.

If the Shockers receive an 8 or 9 seed, I am hopeful they are assigned to the Tulsa game site. I anticipate the Shockers would repeat the Omaha experience for the Beakers and send them back to Lawrence to watch WSU move forward through the Tournament. The last Lunardi bracket called for this game and provides IMO a pathway for the Shockers to again reach the FF.

But who really knows, so I look forward to the Shockers playing the games.

WRONG. Basically zero losses since early December, nearly undefeated season at 30-4 overall... bubble team.

Yes, thought the MVC would be better and Shox would stumble a couple times. MVC wasn't, and Shox got the stumbles completely out of the system early considering the transition without Fred and Ron.

Also thought the non-con would be better to help offset the MVC, weak or not.
