2. Shamet is stud
3. mcDuffie look like a stud, but he needs to take care of knee (surgury)before the season.
4. SHAQ - needs to continue to grow and play with higher IQ. Without him on floor Wsu inside game is going to struggle.
5. PG is still an unknown and has to get better. Pieces seem to be there, they need to be refined.
6. Overall talent looks to be there, but there is going to be growing pain.

I agree with this partially. He was in foul trouble in Canada but I'm not sure he should have been. I'd say half of his fouls weren't fouls. There was some extremely biased officiating in Canada and Shaq got the brunt of it

Shaq's always had foul issues. Maybe he can change that but there's no proof thus far.

He's in foul trouble in the USA also.

Absolutely .. just saying that I'm not going to take the Canada games as proof that he hasn't changed. Not saying he has either.

I kind of feel the same way about his fouls in USA. Lots of cheap BS. Combine those with the legitimate fouls and he might not get to 20 min per game.

I'm not willing to condemn him to that the rest of his career though. We'll see.

Nurger STILL needs a redshirt year. Willis will have to play the 5 a lot. If Shaq still isn't playing more than 15 min a game, Willis will most definitely have to fill that spot. Hamilton doesn't quite look ready.

Shaq's always had foul issues. Maybe he can change that but there's no proof thus far.

You seem to be as fixated on Shaq as I was on a player that graduated last year (who I will only mention in positive sentences now that he is graduated).

I would not call 4 games with shoddy refereeing a representative sample as to whether Shaq has changed or not, as we cannot tell whether there is a problem with the referees or with the player.

I will say this, I did note improvement at the end of the season last year. Except for the Miami game (where they had a huge front line and their strategy was to get our best front-line player in foul trouble), I think he played pretty well. He's been up against some pretty salty competition (a number of players who he had to guard are now in Europe or the NBA).

I think the jury's out as to whether he will continue to improve, but I did note some improvement last year as the season progressed. I also think we got him some good help (Daryle Willis(sp)) that will take some of the load off of him, so let's wait until the real season with real referees starts before we start making broad sweeping conclusions.

I thought that he had some not so good moments followed by some better moments. He started out not being successful getting around picks but some of that was as much the player who was getting picked, not hedging very well. He obviously was not as good at it as Baker and he probably never will be, but I thought he improved as he started to adjust to the athleticism that beat him. Every player is different and he needs to adjust accordingly. Shaq was still inconsistent, as well, but he is also beginning to show more than he used to.

This. Brown and Landry are going to need to be our on ball defenders so we can try and hide Conner a little bit. He just is not big enough or fast enough to stop penetration.

Our bigs have a lot of room for improvement on hedging. I think it may be a chronic weakness this year given the personnel.

I am also looking forward to Markis' (healthy) return. We are so lucky this issue with his knee is coming up now instead of November or January.

We have so much depth, but it is of the type that leaves a lot of minutes available to be earned. A player who rapidly improves has no hard stops ahead of him on the depth chart, unlike the last 4 or 5 years. It will be fun to see who steps up during the next 3 months.
