Very good, very fair conversation. I agree with GP, if we get left out, the committee has sent message that we were left out simply because we weren't end of season ready in November and because league affiliation.

      • A lot of love being thrown around on Twitter from Gary Parrish, Seth Davis and Matt Norlander.

"The idea that Wichita State could finish 29-5 and miss the NCAA tournament is stupid and ridiculous"

        • Hopefully, we will end up 30-4 and render all of the punditry histrionics mute. But is is kind of nice to be constantly talked about, usually in a positive manner.

          • wichita state proved last year that kenpom is pretty reliable.

wichita state crushed ilsu, higher ranked rpi, this year by 40+ thus proving rpi to be diddly squat.

              • The 11 players who appeared in the Louisville game had a combined 5,697 minutes in D-1 basketball before tipoff. Except for the game the day before against LSU, tThree had never played in a game away from home court and one more had a total of 4 minutes in a game away from Koch Arena.

This season those same players have accumulated 5,804 minutes to date, a 98.2% increase, or nearly double the D-1 experience now as compared to the tip-off for the game against Louisville.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:

Thanks Parrish! Kick Palm in the nuts for us the next time you see him, okay.

                  • Great article, except for the sentence below. The underlined are an obvious mismatch!

"In other words, some of the world’s best bracketologists, including CBS Sports’ Jerry Palm, are prepared to label Wichita State unworthy if Wichita State doesn’t secure the MVC’s automatic bid -- largely because of the outcomes of games played during Thanksgiving weekend."

It'll happen. This current shockers team is light years better than the rest of the valley. It just took time to get clicking. And they are clicking...

                          • What it does mean is that Wichita state would be obvious favorites on a neutral court over all other bubble teams. And what it also means is that KenPom sees them as better than all but three Big 12 schools and three ACC schools, and better than all but two SEC schools -- plus better than every Big Ten team except Purdue, every Big East team except Villanova and every Pac-12 team period. And yet Wichita State would be left out of the NCAA Tournament?

                            I love this!

Simon Says - Wichita State Celebrates Seniors | Valley Hoops Insider
(St. Louis, MO) – One of the first stories out of Wichita this past fall was that senior, walk-on John Robert Simon was going to be given a scholarship. At the annual Missouri Valley Conference media day, head coach Gregg Marshall wanted to talk about Simon as much as his hopes for the season, or […]

I think you probably have your 5,697 and 5,804 reversed in the statement quoted above, im4, but no matter -- it's a point well taken regardless. WSU's roster has essentially doubled its D-1 experience just since the win over LSU. And they're much better now as a result, which is also what Parrish sees and why he wrote what he did. He may not have counted the minutes as you have, but he knows an improved team when he sees one, and a team that belongs in the tournament.
