When you make $3million, 95k isn't dramatic. It could be from shifting of funds or incentives towards the base salary, or a difference in bonuses (not sure how they define outside income) or something else -

There is a good chance some of the "money" from outside income has been reallocated to base income.... as we know much of the money is privately funded.Comment

Just a guess but I believe this number (total pay) would include performance bonuses for the 2015-2016 season vs 2014-2015 season. HCGM IIRC is supposed to get bonuses for winning the conference championship, tournament championship and coach of the year awards. In addition there were bonuses built in for how far the team progressed in March Madness, academic progress and a few others that I can't remember. As we all know he did not receive the coach of the year award (Barry Hinson) although he deserved it. The team also did not win the MVC tournament. These may be why his income was down. Kudo's to the athletic administration for paying him the coach of the year bonus for this year.
If anything I would guess his endorsements are up based on the number of times we are seeing or hearing him in the media.Comment

Don't know what year this is, but for the season just conmcluded, he received contractual bonuses of $223,000 plus $25,000 for not being named coach of the year.
