Expanding Koch involves a MAJOR redesign.

As I recall from when the reno was done, the reno cost $25 mill. It would have cost an additional $25 mill to expand the seating and there wasn't a way to raise that amount of money at that time. that was when they already had the entore facility down to the absolute basic structure and had the roof off.

If the luxury boxes go in, I'm afraid they will actually reduce the total number of seats in the building.

Raising the roof only creates a wall. I suppose the roof could be raised enough to allow another level, but it would be a marvel of engineering to figure out how to support another level unless there was a complete rebuild with a larger diameter circle and a brand new roof. That's huge $$.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

I personally don't think expansion is needed. Koch is a rowdy building that has it's own unique feel to it. 10,500 watching a basketball game is plenty.. Ku would lose their minds trying to fill all those seats if they ever hired a terrible coach. Ksu fills more than half of their building with students, if it's a big enough game. And unlike the Wsu students Ksu actually fills those seats. It's painful to say, but damn.

They do that once a year for KU. It is a very different story the rest of the year.

K-State is one of those places where there's a huge discrepancy between average paid/reported attendance, and average actual butts-in-seats. Their place is a morgue for the majority of home games.

It's sort of like how WSU baseball will still probably have top 25 baseball attendence nationally this season, even though tens of people actually showed up to games

Guess I'm the only one who has figured out you can still scroll and read text behind the paywall pop-up at the Eagle and Star websites.

I thought I read at one point that Levitt was built specifically with expansion in mind via raising the roof. I don't think we need to go big biut it would be nice if we could crack 12k along with doing the luxury seating and suites. I have no idea if it is possible. but one of the greatest things about College basketball is the old historic arena's. KU's Phog Allen, OSU's IBA, and Dukes Cameron chief among those. The point being I hope we stick with Koch long term and don't try to build a generic "octagon of doom" or "Dean Dome."

No reason to even think about expansion until the student attendance issue is solved.

The heck with the students; they'd have zero problems selling many more season ticket packages.
