  • Should WSU just forfeit the regular Valley season next year?

If WSu don't make the NCAA tournament this year, the committee is basically telling WSU that winning your conference by 4 games, with an average margin of victory of 19+ points, doesn't amount to anything.

If they forefit the regular season it would give them a chance to be 100% healthy and prepared for STL and, at the same time, prevent teams from becoming familiar with them.

Obviously this isn't (fully) serious, but it's hard not to be ready to tell the Valley to stick it where the sun don't shine.

Has it ever happened that the regular season MVC champion has been left out on Selection Sunday?

WSU has a better case this year as well, but this shows how far the Valley has sunk. When a school that has had the success WSU has had the past three seasons to maybe having to rely on the conference tournament the next is insane.

I think the committee unofficially will put WSU in as well because of the storyline/ratings of the underdog team again with 5 seniors and 3 being Evan, Fred, Ron will generate some buzz.

            I would prefer going independent.

If you play in a league that can't get anyone else into the top 75 of the RPI, or just about any other computer metric, and you fail to take advantage of a good non-conf schedule, your margin of error is extremely thin, injuries notwithstanding. Ask Murray State from a few years ago.

If WSU is somehow left out of the field, it's partially due to losing 8 games without enough offsetting wins, and partially due to every conference but one giving their auto-bid to a 3-game winner, instead of a 16 game winner. That's the dumbest part.

12 game win streak, 6 game win streak... Two losses to the tourney champion, factor in Fred's injuries, ignore or exclude, or at least treat equally as if a power 5 team had a similar injury, and that is why we get a 10 seed in anything but the MidWest, lol

Our resume is "decent" when you consider all the metrics (Kenpom, etc). We may still get an invite...but the "storyline" is obviously showing a high degree of drama. A storyline that is being investigated to the 9th degree by a lot of national press. Will the brand name and most recent history be enough to sway the committee...or will the committee want to send another message to nail the coffin on non-P5 schools to force things???

Remind me whats the storyline again?? I don't think 85% of the country gives a rats azz about WSU and whether they get in. I do think WSU should get in because they are better than half the at-large teams that will get an invite, but the odds are 3/2 against WSU being in. As I stated yesterday, you better root for no upsets this week and then hope.

Exactly, teams like Houston, Butler, Providence, Cincy etc. Them and others have been bouncing in and out of the "last 4 in" the last 2 weeks.

Since you are such a savvy odds maker and enjoy the occasional action, want to make a small wager?

You said yesterday in the quote above that the odds against Wichita State receiving a bid are 3 to 2. Last night, Monmouth and Valparaiso lost - disaster! The odds must have moved even further in favor of our exclusion.

However, being the generous fella I am, I would be willing to betcha straight up (even odds) that we receive an at-large bid on Selection Sunday. While I realize this must look foolish on my end, since my disadvantage is at least 3 to 2 against, I guess I just love extreme long shots that fly in the face of inarguable rationality. Your risk adjusted return really is unbeatable in such a scenario.

Shall we say $500? The winner can direct the winnings be deposited with a charity of their choice, in the winner's name, instead of receiving the payout if they choose to do so.
