There are jerks in every fan base. I'm sure some of our opponent's fans think the same way about some of ours (hell, I feel that way about some of ours). I don't think we should let those few jerks that want to see somebody get hurt be used to generalize their entire fanbase.

this is a shame if you really believe this. this used to be such a respected rivalry going back a long ways. Ive been a fan for more than 30 years. I know many others that have been fans even longer. I know nobody who wants injuries. I also know that Dan doesn't coach that way. He didn;t play that way and certainly doesn't coach that way. He's not John Chaney.

Cold also doesn't hope for physical violence on opposing players. It's disgusting and appalling. I've never seen another fanbase stoop to that sick of a level. And there's more than a few that are joining the fray. Not one post that says anybody's out of line either.

Here's how sad things are. WSU brags about complete dominance in the series over the last two decades. Wins, wins, wins, NCAA tournaments, Valley titles and Final Fours. What do Illinois State fans hang their hats on? ISU players kicking opposing players in the face, ISU players punching opposing players in the balls, laughing about screens knocking players to the ground. That is it.

This was exactly my point, it was not directly at the couple of classy posters that have posted here. They all seem very reasonable and knowledgeable.

Their board is disturbing. You have to wonder if the nasty sector of their fans is drawn to dirty, unsportsmanlike players, or if such players are recruited because they will be loved and admired by that particular fan base. Chicken (Redbird) or egg?

Wichita State is on a 7 or 8 game streak ATS, I've lost track. At this point the public is just being really freaking dumb or so much money is being loaded on the Shocks that Vegas is gonna make all their money back and then some when they finally don't cover.

And they lost to Missouri State in OT. All 3 of these games were on the road and as is the case with most teams Illinois State is better at home then on the road. The Shocks are kind of an aberration in recent years when it comes to road success.

I have not seen Illinois State play this year but from what little I know of them they may be the Valley team that can match up best with the Shocks athletically. Now whether or not they can match the BBIQ, mental toughness, team chemistry and depth of the Shocks is a whole other question.

At this point the Shocks are 5-0 in Valley home games with an average score of 79.6 to 59.6. That is really kind of mind-boggling. By contrast Illinois State is 4-1 in its 5 Valley home games with an average score of 67 to 62. However, Illinois State did score 76 in their last two home games vs UNI and Drake. Illinois State scored 81 in the OT loss to Missouri State and 78 in the road win over Loyola. So lately the Redbirds are starting to score. That said what has been carrying the Shocks has been their defense which has been stellar.

I keep waiting for one of these Valley road games to turn into a real grind, especially considering how the other Valley teams and their fans really get up for the Shocks, but so far that hasn't happened. Illinois State is good enough to make that happen. Whether that will in fact happens remains to be seen. Looking forward to it.

I love how some of them dismiss this 'run' of recent success we're on as a fluke. WSU found magic in a bottle by getting lucky with recruiting RB and FVV. Once that core of first team performers leave, then WSU will fall back to their 1990's failures. They're not the only fans who say this to be fair, KU fans have been saying this for years.

Just goes to show you how fans outside of Wichita perceive us. The sleeping dragon started to wake up when Mark T. came on board. Now, GM has started to make the dragon yawn and stretch out its arms. They have no clue that dynasty is still in its infancy. Fools.
