WSU Versus Indiana State Predictions and Pregame Discussions

Another ho-hummer for WSU. They'll make it interesting for the first 14 minutes then WSU will begin to pull away for an easy 16 point win. Look for RB and FVV play slightly better as they've learned they're no longer on the Wooden Watch.

I have had a lot of fun in St. Louis with Tree fans. One, named Bones, was beyond cool and generous. We tried to reciprocate, but, alas, he had too much fun and had to call it a short weekend. I still look for him every year. I think the Shocks are continuing to improve and several ISUb fans have been touting their much improved backcourt for its defensive pressure. The old adage is "you always press a pressing team". I think the Shocker guards will return that pressure. A back and forth affair stretches out a little in the last 2 minutes. 78-65 Home TeamRobin Roberts: "My mother used to say, when you strut, you stumble."

This game should be interesting more for Sycamore fans than for Shocker fans. We all know what your team is. Our team doesn't even know what it is yet! We've usually got about 26-30 really good minutes per game from the team. But with the teams we've beaten, we've been able to stay within striking distance during the 10-15 (or so) bad minutes we play. We do NOT win a game against the Shocks with 30 minutes of good play.
Our backcourt has really improved since the non-con. They are playing exceptional basketball right now. The frontcourt just tries to keep up. There is no doubt that your team is more talented overall (but not more talented than Illinois State, right? ;-)), but our guys are scrappy. And, at least in the conference, they haven't gotten rattled, even when they get down.
Your coach is in a different universe than ours, and that's what is going to win this game. I figure it'll be a good game except for the 10-15 minutes where our guys forget what a basketball is, and your team puts us in a 20 point hole. And Lansing tries his unexplainable substitutions.
And your comments about our annual meltdown are spot on. Lansing cannot get a team to play an entire season. It's just not in him. And it's starting to wear thin in western Indiana.

And kudos to fans who will go beyond just complaining about a situation, and trying to do something about it. It shows a genuine care for the players they root for.

But like I said, I don't know anything about their situation -- maybe it's all they can do.
I'm hopeful a new AD will be a far more forceful voice for athletic fundraising. But please don't make fun of fans who are simply trying to remedy situations as best we can when faced with University officials who don't seem to care all that much. We're trying!!!

Originally posted by forevershockerfan View PostHere's the deal. Might it not be poetic justice that our 40th home win in a row will be against the Sycamores? Why? The Bird, The Brawl, Great Scott, and Timber!!! Let me splain.
The Bird---Larry Bird once scored 33 points with 16 rebounds but our Shocks beat them right here at 21st and Hillside 74-70 in overtime 1/26/1978. He beat us in games too but I don't want to talk about that. I did not see him play here but have been told he was making shots from almost from out on the street at 21st. and Hillside.
The Brawl--This game was at Terre Haute and Eddie Bird was among the 10 or so Indiana State players ejected when one of them punched Sasha and smooshed his jersey. If I recall, only John Cooper was the only Shocker ejected in this melee. That left our foes with 4 players so we went 5 on 4 which was weird. We won that ugly mess too.
Great Scott---Scott Brenton is draining 3's like a winning slot machine hits 7's. The Shocks will also focus on Devonte Brown. Indiana State just beat N. Iowa which makes them 4-1 and 10-7. Thus, a win for us will be finer than a frog hair in the 'Valley Free For All' as Baker calls it. 6-0 for us sounds groovy to me.
Timber--Here is what happens to Sycamore trees down here at Koch Arena. The Shocks do the lumberjack gig, chopping tall timber into thin toothpicks. Chop-em thin, you are bound to win. How do we do this? Shake, Bake, Make, Take/Smooth. MM is thin but is a shaker that shakes into tight spots to help us win. It is too hot to stay in Mr. Baker's kitchen when he bakes foes on both sides of the court with his awesome offense and stingy defense. Conner Frankamp is a maker and is the best shooter 3G has ever coached. His improved execution is like a breath of fresh clear air after a spring rain. After the rain comes the rainbow as FVV taketh from our foes and giveth us wins in smooth fashion which makes our ROI able to raise the roof with fans that love him.
The result of this game will indeed be poetic justice with an eleven point surpass which will total 40 wins in a row at home su-weet home. We are honored as Shocker fans to witness all of this. Enjoy!!!
Indiana State---61
Wichita State---72
