Caller asking a comparison between daishawn and Fred as far as dribble penetration and other general remarks. Coach hesitant to make comparison. Bigger and more athletic. Fred has almost mastered the game of basketball.

A caller asked 3G how Daishon Smith compares to Fred. While he spoke very highly of Daishon he said it is probably unfair to compare anyone else to Fred. He is such a unique talent and 3G essentially implied we may never see the likes of Fred again.

Not too many guys want to come and sit behind Fred. Might speak to some of the guard turnover we have seen.

Daishon is bigger and more athletic?

A guy who doesn't get the credit he deserves on the defensive end is Ron Baker.

Caller commenting on great D and predicting ZBr DPOY.
Coach agrees but adds Ron as a tremendous defender, better than he is credited.

1972, this is fun. I like how you convey different than me. Think it paints a good pic of the show for those not able to listen.

The prediction was for Zach Brown to be DPOY the next two years (I interpreted that to mean his Jr. and Sr. years). Coach Marshall did not take issue with that point at all.

The three best defensive players in the MVC last year were Tekele, Fred and Ron and it wasn't even close. Unfortunately, only two made the all defensive team.

A key point made by HCGM, something SNers should remember, don't try and make the young guys or the guys coming in, be the next Fred, the next Ron or whoever. That's not fair. Let them be themselves and become great in their own right.

I guess that Ty being in the doghouse may be a matter of how you interpret Gregg's remarks, but I don't see him as being in the doghouse. First of all, on the Katz/Greenberg interview, Gregg made the remark that Ty played in Florida and he just wasn't ready to play. He then went on the say several times in several interviews that we missed the ball handling of Fred, Landry, and Conner in Florida (this is just confirming what Shockernetters have been saying). Then he said in response to Ron's question that Ty hasn't played at all for a while(I think that he thought that it was a dumb question). I think that one reason that Ty didn't get any mop up minutes is because Gregg was going to give the extra minutes to Conner and JRS got the other mop up minutes because he is the next guard in(he's passed up Ty on the depth chart if minutes are needed this year). We played 11 players against Utah. It is difficult to get minutes when you are the 12, 13, or 14 on the depth chart and that is where Eric Hamilton and Ty are right now. They are not in the doghouse. They are just low on the totem pole and have to pass others to get some playing time. At least, that is my take on it.

Depends on your definition of the doghouse. If you understand the offense, go to the right spots on the floor, don't get out of position on defense, value every possession and bust your ass every second you are out there you won't be in the "doghouse".

I have no inside info on TT but I have watched many a player end up on the bench with tenure who didn't do one or more of the above and I'm guessing this is what's going down. This is exactly why Evan started as a freshman.

Not to be picky but Evan never started as a freshman. Sophomore yes, freshman no.
