It was just reported yesterday that he isn't even practicing yet, so I would find that very hard to believe
I agree. The only reason I even mentioned it was because of this person's connections both in the health care field and to the big donor crowd. Otherwise, I would have totally discounted it. As it is, I am only mostly discounting it at this point.

If he plays Saturday I'm going to be awfully excited. Don't dangle that in front of me. What a story for him, too, if he manages to be back on the court that quickly. This season is crazy.
It puts him at risk for future spinal concussions. If he has any spinal narrowing at all the trainers won't release him etc. I posted more details about that in the prior pages on shockernet.
But it only puts him at increased risk, if there is a reduction in the diameter of the cervical spinal canal -- which means if there is zero reduction, then there is zero increased risk due to previous injury. And even if there is a reduction, if it is slight then the increased risk is slight. And basketball is already a low risk sport for this type of injury. So we really shouldn't be speculating until we know if he has any reduction in the diameter of his spinal canal. Until then, I think it's premature to say that a kid should or shouldn't play again.

Pwersonally, I think I will wait for Kunkel's @KWCHWill tweet!
"I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:
--------------------------------------- Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare: "We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".
A physician called into a radio show and said: "That's the definition of a stool sample."

A movie in the making with so many plot twists Alford Hitchcock would blush. But honestly that's all irrelevant because college basketball effectively ended in 90-91, sadly.

Per Gregg on the Katz podcast: Anton did some jogging before the Utah game and got a headache, so they shut him down as far as running. So it might still be a bit. He goes on to say that Anton has his strength back, but is not the same mentally, so that might take a while even when he's cleared.

Ugh, there could be a combined physiological and psychological aspect to this that prevents him from returning.

Yeah that UNLV team was THE best team to play basketball whether it be past present or future. If you check the record books, all the national title winners since then have an asterisk by their name, saying "would not have beaten 90-91 UNLV team"
Most people like to call the current year "2015 AD". I prefer to call it "24 ATGBTOAT:90-91UNLV" (24 After The Greatest Basketball Team of All Time: 90-91 UNLV)

More specifically, they put him back to zero on some scale that measures his progress due to that headache.

The 2008 championship must have so many asterisks that they get their own appendix in the history books.
KU - Champions*@$#
*Technically they played no one since Memphis vacated all victories
@Only won because Derrick Rose missed like 30 free throws in 45 seconds or something?
$Somehow they were allowed to take home the trophy despite Darnell Jackson being paid to become a Jayhawk. Probably because they are a P5 school.
#Also, would've lost by 20 to the 90-91 UNLV team.
