    • Comparing this year's defense to last year's, apparently Cotton guarded the entire opposing team. Really missing that dude right now.

In my opinion they weren't bad shots and I liked his aggressiveness. USC's 3 point and FT efficiency were the 2 biggest factors.
Shocker fan for life after witnessing my first game in person, the 80-74 win over the #12 Creighton Bluejays at the Kansas Coliseum.

        • Anyone notice an argument between Marshall and Hamilton? Hamilton wasn't in the game at that point. One of the assistant coaches separated them.

And Evan Wessel, who many on here believe is the second coming of Dave Stallworth, was 1/5 with an absolutely unacceptable turnover when he wasn't paying attention to the fact that he, as a guard and a senior, should have been the guy to bring the ball up when Mc Duffie rebounded it. I think he needs to be out of the lineup when Taylor's in as they are both liabilities on the floor right now. Maybe after Fred and or Connor can play it will be different.

The more important stat with him doesn't show up in the box - how many of those 10 should he have taken given clock, D, etc.? I think 6 max, and that's why he sat so much - poor shots are basically fractional turnovers.

Love the kid's game and quickness though. JR may be a better steady safer PG right now, but he can't break down gaps in a zone or test the ball screen hedge like T3.

              • Guys, guys, guys, just calm down. We got beat by a hot shooting team this afternoon. Granted, the perimeter defense could have been better, but I don't think it would have mattered. Boatwright was lights out most of the game. I saw some good things from Brown, BWam, and McDuffie, but also some negatives. Ron tried a little too hard to take the game into his own hands, but it's understandable. Grady will get better once he learns the offensive system. I've seen good moves from him, and he had a couple lay-ups that didn't fall. The loose ball intensity was there.

We have to remember, that Coach Cal gets all the best of the best when it comes to freshmen, and most of they time they don't play like freshmen. If HCGM were willing to illegally recruit, we could have some of those guys. But we got what we got, and I firmly believe they will turn into solid players. I'm not worried, at all. With FVV and Frankamp, that is a completely different game. Hell, it's a completely different game if we don't go what.. 3 for 18 to start the game?

I'm fully expecting the Shox to whoop up on Alabama tomorrow, and I see no reason why they can't take out Dayton or Iowa for 5th place. Only reason I say Dayton or Iowa is because I strongly believe Monmouth will lose to Notre Dame tonight, and then whoever loses between Iowa or Dayton will beat Monmouth tomorrow. 5th place is ours. Iowa isn't that strong, and I haven't seen Dayton yet, but I know the guys will come out fired up tomorrow and Sunday.

Just chill out ya'll, relax, and enjoy the holidays. There's a lot of basketball to come. The Valley, from what I've seen so far, looks a little stronger than normal this season. Northern Iowa will be tough for sure, and we'll see how it plays out from there. This will be a much, much improved team came March.

                • It's not how you start, it's how you finish. If CF and FVV and LS could play in every single game, sure we might have ended up with a better seed, but not necessarily a better team. Look at the way MM is breaking out with the extra minutes. Good thing he didn't redshirt. I'm convinced this patch will force the sophomores out of their slump.

They say time heals all wounds, but pie certainly speeds things along.

                  • I just can't believe how bad Shaq looks at this point. He's on audition the remainder of the season to prove his scholarship should be renewed.

EW is an awesome roll player on deep, experienced, talented teams...not so much on lineups with glaring holes.

TTsimply not ready for meaningful majority minutes...can't be too critical as he's been fed to the wolves.

Concerned with Grady's softness (next to Shaq that was the most disappointing outcome from this game)

MM is the obvious silver lining.

If FVV is 100% by STL game then I'd be a very happy camper. To me this simply proves he's the most valuable college player in the nation.

Your buddy was the one that jokingly hoped another Shockernetter would die. That's a lot more trollish than anything I've ever done. I'm not calling for him to be banned (heck I think Cold shouldn't have been), but ShockerFever gets away with far more than any other poster on this site (including Cold). Profanity, flames, personal insults, namecalling, hijacking topics, offensive material, etc. You might think the board needs a bulldog, but that bulldog violates just about every posting guideline.

btw, Boatright is NBA bound, after this year.
Boatright does not shoot so well with a hand in his face. He shoots pretty well, when he is all alone beyond the circle. Reminds me of Dougie.

Yes, I put that effort in the awful department.

                            Hamilton is a hot head.

                            • The thing that sucks most is that we are burning good OOC games with one arm tied behind our back.

We will not get a pass come post season selection time for these losses, no way.

But we will be fine come conference play. And I don't believe that we will be sweatin an at large, but we need to win these next 2.

                              • I know that folks will bomb me, but Wessel played 29 minutes and went 1/5 and 0/4.

I would start Markis in his place in a heart beat. Markis went 5/9 and 2/3. Markis had 14 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 TO, and 2 PF.

In fairness, Evan had 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal, 0 TO, and 1 PF.
