Wichita State vs Tulsa GAME THREAD

This is the type of year that the regular season is only relevant in regards to our final rank. We lose this game 8 out of 10 times from where it is now, but we can't be too upset about it. The polls literally do not matter; the only thing that I care about this season is our record in the NCAA tournament. That said, we've played worse than Tulsa. We played significantly worse the first half, and got bailed out by Fred going hero; we should have been down 10 or 12 at half-time. Good news is that it is mostly on our new guys. Our big 3 have 44 points and 17 rebounds. Our freshmen and sophomores have 10 points, 10 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 15 fouls. The guys that need to improve are the guys that should improve down the road.

Remember, for most of our team this is the first actual college basketball game they've played. On the road. To what probably should be the best or second best team in the AAC and in the top 25. Led by approximately 15 seniors. Playing the zone gimmick that works in November and not March.

It wasn't called like this in the first half.

There is no such thing as consistency in officiating.

That's because every foul in basketball is a judgment foul. And when every single touch is a foul due to the new rules, we have to expect the refs to suck. Do they stop the game every possession and call a foul? Or let them play?

Seems like they try to do both and it just ends up horrendously for everyone.

They weren't gonna win every game but it sucks to not take advantage of an early Top 10 ranking. We'll probably fall about 6 or 7 spots with this one, especially since it's appearing to be a double-digit loss to a decent, not great, foe.

If the defender can't run backwards faster then the guy with the ball can run forwards, it's a foul on the defensive guy. that's just not right.

Even with a miracle comeback here ... I don't recall the last time one of Marshall's squads was outplayed for 90% of the game like this. Lost games, sure. Trailed games for a long period to a hot-shooting team, it's happened. But without that amazing run by FVV, we've been outplayed just about the entire game.

Got a lot of improvements to make. A healthy FVV will be a huge difference, but man ... I'm disappointed in some people.

On the bright side, this will likely be the worst game we play all season. I remember when this kinda game used to be the norm.
