I think Marshall is sold on Kelly (that's why he's starting). I think I am too. He may not be a world beater, but he's very solid with lots of upside. He's definitely shown why Marshall said he was the "Most improved" over the summer.

We will have 2 seniors next year and they are both walk-ons. The more upperclassmen the better.

Doesn't Thomas Payne play for James Madison? If he doesn't, he should.

No, was the first black player to ever play at Kentucky.

He may be sold on him but how would we know for sure? He isn't going to come out and tell us exactly how he feels about each player. I know that he was happy about his work ethic this summer. I know that he doesn't easily give up on coaching any player. He stays with them and when their time comes, he give them a chance. He did that with Glass last year, etc. For all we know, he may just feel that Kelly is his best option at this time, he may see potential that needs to be drawn out. Kelly produced pretty well against the light weight Hawaii Pacific but he failed (as did others) against Tulsa. We will have to see how it goes.

Yup. A "T Comparison Chart" would look very lopsided whether you did a "success/fail" chart or a "went well/didn't go well" chart. That goes for some starters, bench players, and coaching staff.

Right now, the players that Gregg is sold on is probably Fred, Ron, Landry, Grady, and maybe Evan (I'm not sure about Evan but history tells us that he will stick with him longer than some others). No one else has probably earned Gregg's total trust yet. That would be my guess.

                  • I'm still high on Rashard and I think the minutes played last night shows Gregg is right now too.

                    • If you want to be on 3Gs good side and see court time, here is what is expected:

                      1. Play hard with energy
                      2. Be at the right place at the right time (know what we're running)
                      3. Play defense
                      4. Hustle and go after 50/50 balls

Scoring and looking pretty is secondary. This is why Evan plays and other guys don't. If the othe guys want to play more, do what Evan does.

I believe your right, but it is also a lack of better options. As much as I would rather see Evan at the 3 than the 4, once CF starts playing and Landry gets more playing under his belt, it has been mentioned here of Ron moving to the 3. That's Fred, Ron, Conner, and Landry at the 1-3, Evan and Rashard at the 4, and Anton at the 5 (and God knows who else at this time, Rauno may get his RS pulled, I joke, I think).

I'm not saying that a change in the starting lineup is going to happen right now. Gregg will try to coach the team up and he obviously trusts Kelly more than Shaq, or Bush and he'll stick with him at this time. I wish Shaq would show what his talent level potential is capable of. But he's not there yet.

                            • Shaq may go down as one of those guys like JT Durley, Stutz, or Paul Miller. We cuss his name after every game for 3 years and he emerges as an ALL MVC player his senior year and we all talk about how great he is.

                              • I think one of the more disappointing aspects of last night was seeing our bigs just standing there, waiting for rebounds to fall into their arms. I remember one in particular where a Tulsa dude picked up an offensive board with seemingly no effort and scored without resistance. Carl Hall and Tekele Cotton would be severely insulted if they were watching last night. Just lazy, pathetic play.

                                ... No really, deuces.
