Yellow uniforms

Watching the Sycamores and the names on the back of the jerseys are so small they are difficult to read from the floor. Numbers, school name in different typefaces that aren't visually compatible, IMO. Whoever is designing these uniforms should have their marketing degrees revoked.

I liked the new yellows but agree not the font differences.

Im Switzerland regarding the name on the backs. It doesn't really bother me.

I got my graphic design degree back in the dark ages (before computers). We were taught to avoid gimmicks, and value legibility. Now with all the bells and whistles available, it seems like today's designers like what looks cool, but don't worry too much if anyone, especially us seniors, can read it or not.

I'm assuming they can't auction/make money on a uniform with the students name on it because they would be making money off that name? I get it but thats the only reason it makes sense not to have them on there for the auction uniforms.

Should have gone with the Digital Countdown Elite if for no other reason than the shorts stripe looks a lot like wheat.

I have a MTXE jersey (Zach Brown; 1) from last season, the last name is on the back, but they sewed a patch over the name (patch color is nearly identical to jersey color). If you hold the jersey up to a light source, you can still read the name.

My preference is for there to be a little more black on the home uniforms. The contrast of the black and yellow looks really good.

Hope our road uniforms look better than the yellow from the other night, not at all impressed with the new look. Thankfully, they are uniformly filled with studs.

So you're saying the names on the back of the jerseys should utilize Helvetica? That would probably help with legibility, but it's always lacked a personality (which is its intent - I will grant you). I've always been more of a Futura man myself, but I digress.

Type-nerd jokes aside, I am not a fan of typeface used for the numbers. It is near impossible to read from a distance, the two numerals almost blend into each other as one distinct element. The odd rounding and shape of the numerals also contributes too this. I dislike the font in and of itself, but paired with the retro typeface used for the university it is even worse.

With all the newcomers and no name son the back it was doubly-frustrating.

I think Royals said that "whoever designed these should lose their marketing degree." I would agree with that - these units look like they were designed by a marketing team, not a designer.

Easy to forget just how big EH is until you see a photo like this. Kid is huge!!! Can't wait to see him after a couple of years of Rosenbooming. Will be a man amongst boys in most games.

I'm surprised they didn't use Dom Casual. Isn't that the font of choice by graphic designers? ;)

I'm not a graphic designer (even if I did win a meaningless design contest during the new logo debacle under the Schaus regime :) ), but I worked at a wholesale sign company for nearly 20 years (some of that doing setup work for printing/cutting) and saw a significant number of representative samples of both aesthetically pleasing and displeasing designs.

Wes Anderson has burned out futura for me. All I see now when I see that font is royal tennenbaums or Rushmore
