That makes me think they lost several speakers in one area, possibly due to an amplifier or cable failure.

Maybe that didn't come out right. It's consistently a problem every year as expressed by others, but this is the first time ever that I have ever experienced this bad of a sequence. There was no sound at all to my side of the arena. So no, it's not an acoustics thing. This was a f*** up.

Friday at the VB match I was in the NW corner 3 rows up in the upper bowl. Both my wife and I talked about how bad it was.

At the men's BB game I was on the East side, 11th row, mid-court. Don't recall it really being anything I paid much attention to. It seemed "normal". Saturday, night I was back in the NW corner but in row 8 of the lower bowl. Seemed "normal" at that point as well.

Perhaps @RoyalShock is right. Maybe their was a bank of speakers that were not operating and perhaps they fixed that between the Men's BB game and the Volleyball game.

The home opener with Charleston Southern will shed some light on that.

Sounds like I sit opposite in CKA from Fever, and I share his thoughts from Saturday.

The levels have, and always will, vary widely depending upon where you sit so long as we continue with the central cluster (pun intended?) design. I know we temporarily had fill speakers for the upper reaches prior to the upgrade, which helped clarity up in my row of 29. Installing fill speakers isn't so tough, but getting the delay right to match the central speakers is a pain in the ass. That said, if fill speakers up on the outer rim are what is needed, they should do it. Clarity and proper volume should always be first priority in sound amplification.

Thanks for the info. That's 5 games too few! :) They have the buses, they have the bus stops, they have the routes, they have the employees, they have the fans that will use them. Put your best foot forward and run 'em! We're talking 6 hours for 5 games. That's 30 hours of operation I'm begging for here. I even have a name for the special shuttle service:

SB, the fill speakers actually made my seats worse because they created a dead zone right where we are. We were in between 2 fills and I guess they were cancelling each other out, we were unable to hear much of anything when they were there. The delay isn't so tough anymore, there is all kinds of software that should help make it pretty easy, as I'm sure you know. I remember when they added the upper speakers years ago and I got excited thinking we'd be able to hear and it only got worse. I'm anxious to hear what everyone is talking about, I thought last year was pretty good, considering we have a 20-something year old student running the board. That's a lot of pressure on someone likely new to running a board of that size with 10,500 watching/listening to every move.

Wait a minute. Are you telling me that sound they have been broadcasting all these years is in English?!! Wow! Who knew?

While we're on the subject of game day production, anyone notice that not only is Klein Flooring and Construction announced after a 3pt basket, but the put up TWO of their logos on the video board now when the 3pt basket graphic goes up. Also, the tarp over the tunnel where the basketball players come out now says "Prarie Band Casino" on it. WSU must be making some big bucks on ads...

Let's hope so. This kind of success in college athletics doesn't come cheap.
