  • Reunion?

Anyone know/heard anything about the school having the 10 year celebration of the Sweet 16 team? Would be cool to see a reunion of guys like Cooz, Miller, Wilson, and Matty B. Can't believe its been 10 friggin years already.

I agree that it would be nice. The big hang-up will be getting Mark to come back in the middle of his team's season. Maybe at some point down the line, he could be inducted into Shocker Sports Hall of Fame in a year ending in 1 or 6 and have a reunion of all his players. However, you probably have to put Gregg in HoF before Mark, and you cannot put Gregg in until he is done coaching here.

They could schedule a home and home with the first game here. Problem solved.

This is probably a decent time to toss this bit of information into the hat.

Matt is getting married next year in Wichita. Whether or not an official "10 year reunion" for the team is planned based on it's own merit, it's still going to effectively take place at the wedding.

Maybe the school will see about a "two birds with one stone" situation.

Great season. Ton of fun. I was a junior and attended every home game and a few of the closer road games. Beating Tennessee was a memorable moment. But, it was the Sweet 16. I understand getting the original Final Four team together, and I hope this recent Final Four bunch will reunite in the future. Sweet 16 team? Yeah it would be nice to see PJ and boys again, but I'm not too concerned if we don't have one.

Why not? You can change ANY "rule", and especially when it involves something completely groundbreaking, like what Gregg has done here.

I'm just saying that Gene had to wait (and now, Gene might be a posthumous inductee...who knows?) so I'm guessing that would be the precedent. I totally agree though if the rule could be changed for anyone, 3.3G fits the bill.

Whatever happens, DO NOT do anything sports related in conjunction with Matt's marriage. A wedding is typically the total territory of the bride. If she wants something sports-related to happen, I'm certain she knows how to set that up.

I feel like this could be the plot of such a great comedy

But she has a lifetime to get over it. :)

Mrs. '16 wanted no sports on our honeymoon. I countered with no shopping...and lost that argument.

I feel like I've completely missed the boat where sports are concerned with my spouse. She is a WSU alum and reasonably interested in the well-being of WSU sports, but she is just not as huge a basketball fan as I am. She always goes with me, though. Well, after several years of marriage, it comes out that she loves going to baseball games and wishes we did that more. It's like it never occurred to me that I was just dragging her along in the wrong sport! Needless to say, I have repented and will now be trying to attend more baseball games with her. Interestingly enough, I was always less of a baseball fan than basketball, so in the end this is just another example of how marriage is God's way of completing us :)

This comes as exactly NO surprise to this commentator.

Luckily the Bachelor Party isn't. What better way to kick one off than a Shocker game?
