See you in Hutchinson in March if your team make it to the Nationals.

Rian was a valuable member of the team the last two years and more importantly was a great representative of the university to the community. Good luck Rian, Shocker Nation has your back!

I doubt it would ever happen, or that either party would even be interested, but just purely hypothetical, if he wanted and we wanted, would it be "legal" for him to go to JC for a year and then re-sign with WSU?

                In theory, yes.

Just wild speculation, but since RH had been at WSU for 2 years, he still has work to do to be on pace to graduate on time. The fact he's going the JuCo route, tells me he doesn't have the credits to be a Junior.

He's probably going juco in order to play this year. Since he is a redshirt freshman if he went D-1 now he would have to sit a year and then have two years remaining. Going juco, he will still have two years of D-1 left. Many redshirt freshman go juco for that reason.

I cannot comment on his hours and grades, but if he went to any D1 he would have to set another year and since he already redshirted here at WSU he would lose another year of court time eligibility. By going Juco he gets experience during this year and still has two years of eligibility for another program.

Going the Juco route makes total sense from Rian especially if he still has ambitions of playing at the D-1 level (which I am sure he does). Since he is going to burn a year of eligibility one way or the other he might as well go where he can display his skills for all to see at a slid Juco program. Hopefully, that will open up a number of different options for him to consider for his final 2 years of eligibility.

Good luck Ria'n wherever your journey takes you.

He could go DII and play right away as well.

Many DII schools would also provide high quality classes that would further a degree and allow him to transfer to DI in a year.

How many DII to DI transfers are there per year? There's no reason to assume the worst about Rian. This makes the most sense. It allows him to play next year and transfer to DI easily in another. We don't need to speculate about his grades or credits.

I would assume if goal is to get back to a D1 program there is a much better chance of being recruited out of a JUCO then from a D11 school...
