I KNEW we won over some K-State fans when we whooped KU, but I didn't know Bruce Weber could yodel a little. Good effort Bruce.

One of you in Wichita has got to ask Marshall what he thinks of the song.

The second time I listened to it, it sounded a little better. Of course it was late at night. I might actually like it if I listen to it a few more times.

Amazing; I guzzled (chugged) a couple of 32oz Shock-Top draws and it sounded a whole lot better. :)

What chaps my hide is that the first 25 seconds is actually a heck of a sweet build up. You really think something cool is about to happen ... then ... well you know the rest of the story.

When I see this thread, I feel like it should say "Kung of Shocker Nation"

Maybe we could record that one too

Ok, just to clear some things up. The day Gregg made his decision to stay, it occurred to me that the Marshall/Alabama scenario was very much like the character in Roger Miller's "Kansas City Star" song wherein a local TV performer turned down an offer from Omaha for "better job and higher wages" because of his local celebrity. Taking Millers iconic music (admittedly corny C&W), I composed some lyrics as a parody about the great news that Gregg Marshall had decided to stay at WSU. I then contacted a local person who had the knowledge and ability (Jim Ferrell) to see if he could round up a singer/musician who could imitate Miller's style. He even found additional musicians for the trombone and rhythm and put a marvelous audio track together. Brian Hall, a very talented WSU student did the video which makes the whole thing go. I did it for fun and hopefully for the enjoyment of my Shocker friends.

It's a parody of Roger Miller's "Kansas City Star". Google that and you'll see the similarity.

That belongs in dog patch missourah.
I applaud the effort though. I'm sure the 70+ crowd will love it.
It's a parody for Gods sake!

Myself, as well as all of the coworkers I shared the video with took it for what it was, a satire, and had a few good laughs about it, so for adding to the entertainment value of a sometimes otherwise monotonous work environment, I say, "Thank you."

It was fun and I did it not as an attempt to make musical history but to give Shocker fans something different to enjoy. Glad you liked it.
