Ron is not NBA ready. He can't create his own shot and not good enough penetrator. That leaves shooting and he's no Kyle Korver. He needs to come back. Then again, I laugh about Kelly Oubre being an NBA player and they talk about him being a lottery pick.

What I think was a bigger factor, and to HCGM's credit he said it's not an excuse, was the short turnaround. One of the last games Sunday night. The first game Thursday night. Then the plane was late on Tuesday. I can't say this for sure, but I believe that the NCAA paid for the team to bus to Omaha, not fly. We said screw it, we'll pay for it ourselves. Can anyone else confirm that? I can't imagine if they had to bus back to ICT, as planned by the NCAA. Plus I'm pretty sure Kentucky played Saturday (as did ND) and WVU played earlier on Sunday than WSU, yet we get the quick turnaround (and traveled the furthest). I'm not claiming conspiracy at all. Just explaining why we looked dead legged.

I think the bus/plane radius is 300 miles and WSU to CenturyLink is like 310, so we would have been able to fly. There's now a rule though that teams inside the 300 mile radius can still fly and get reimbursed for the ground travel rate.78-65

I know when I heard we had the early game Thursday it would be tough. I was hoping for a Friday start, to give us anotheir day. The Irish did have an extra day and this part of the year after a long season that is huge. Our guards have played alot of minutes, and with the type of defense we play you need fresh legs. I think it showed that we weren't on top of our game on defense by the % they shot in the second half. When we grabed the lead with about 15 min. to go they hit 3 - 3s in a row within about 90 seconds and we just didn't match that, we had good looks, just couldn,t knock anything down, Ron didn't look like he normally does, and it wasn't their defense, we got plenty of open looks, plus we missed 4 or 5 point blank lay ups that we normaly would hit. But no excuses, the Irish had one of those nights and we didn't, much like the first UNI game...

Great season Shockers- we played out of our minds and I think the two teams are very close on a larger sample size than just one game. It was absolutely a treat to watch VanVleet and our own DJ go at it- especially in the second half from right before the lead change to right after it. There was about five minutes where the two of them took over and it was very impressive on both of their parts. Seeing VanVleet in person- he is a rich man's Dominic James from Marquette a few years back.
Putting this in perspective, this was ND's second sweet 16 in my lifetime (my handle tells you my age), so enjoy the vast success you guys have had recently including this year. Thanks for trading info all week and being polite on here. Besides the one fan who compared us to a mediocre 2013 Pittsburgh team, you all have provided great basketball insight. Hope we can knock off UK for yall.
