Playing KU has no bearing on our arrival as a nationally relevant program. We got there on our own. I am a strong believer, however, that state schools should make an effort to schedule each other. This should be done equitably. This goes for all sports men's and women's. After all these are state funded institutions.Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

Damn, even after we won, we are still whinning about KU. We now have the bragging rights and the press and media have nicely done that for us all over this land.
There is absolutely no reason or advantage now for us to play KU again.

Kung, you have a good point, but then again we don't want to completely scare one or all possible future conferences away from even considering us if they think we will completely dominate their conferernce either.
And we certainly would not even want to consider slacky off (on the unmentionables) just to keep the score close, now would we?

Sure, WSU's basketball program will continue to exist, and even thrive, whether KU gets on the schedule or not. However, that doesn't mean the game wouldn't be fun on a regular basis. KU on the schedule would make for a game to circle on the calendar (as a fan) amongst a bunch of games (Drake, Bradley, Newman, etc.) that are rather ho-hum.
Wouldn't it be fun to turn what has been a non-rivalry and make it an actual rivalry? I loved playing Creighton because we both "hated" them and because they were good. The games were exciting, the wins provided an extra level of excitement, and the losses fueled the fire of the rivalry. To me, regular season games don't get much better than when the Shox line up against a "hated rival", and unfortunately, those are rather lacking at the moment.
Some of you say you don't care one bit, and I believe that may be true in some cases. For others however, I wonder if you are so focused on creating some "internet tough guy" image and "slamming KU through your apathy" that you aren't really being honest about the simple fact that playing KU would be good for WSU and fun for the fans, yourself included.

As a WSU fan, I am so over this. I could care less; almost to the point that I almost skipped the experience altogether.
If KU ever calls, we should answer, but by no means, should we make that call.
I want to enjoy my team without the BS..Kansas is Flat. The Earth is Not!!

There are a lot of teams not named Kansas that can fulfill being a rivalry (Oklahoma, Missouri, Texas, Creighton, Oklahoma State, Arkansas) that would be just as fun for me as a fan without having to put up with the douchbaggery of the opposing fans for the period between games (23 years in some cases).
I hated having to play KU last weekend. One, because it created (or simply clarified the focus) douchebaggery in one team's fanbase, while the other attempts to be the better person; two, because one team from the state of Kansas had to exit the tournament early; three, I don't enjoy many of the fans of either KU or K-State, but that is just personal with me, so if WSU does not prevail, the wait for revenge is unbearable around these parts."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I was over this before we beat them. Now I'm even more over it.
I would love for them to play. I think it is petty that they don't play. I think the reasons are a bit different than what KU fans/administrators say they are.
But WSU doesn't need KU just as much as KU doesn't need WSU.
That is a fact now. The programs historically aren't close. But that is still a fact.

Jamar, I probably misstated my opinion. I'd love to see it as much as the next guy because I think it'd be great for the state and would be a fun basketball game every year to play. However, I don't think we should go out of our way to make concessions in order for it to happen. We have done fine without them scheduling us, and it's not imperative that we schedule an annual home and home with them."In God we trust, all others must bring data." - W. Edwards Deming
