Football school, 12 total basketball fans, limited basketball tradition, high expectations while looking up to UK and Florida, Promising coaches historicaly getting screwed over. Plus Marshall already ownes Bama basketball, I doubt he truly wants to own it though by accepting any crazy offer.
For Marshall (or anyone, for that matter) to accept the job at Tx or Bama, they'd have to say to themselves, "Admin gave the PREVIOUS coach EVERYTHING he wanted and needed and they STILL couldn't win." If you can't say that, then why did Admin hold back, and why would you think they WOULD give you everything? I agree; I don't see him leaving. But, it's smart to let WSU know your value as seen in other people's eyes.

If he were take the position at Texas, would he want to take the time to mold that program into his vision? That would at least 2 to 3 years to do with the right players buying into his system.

Also consider this: Texas has some one and done players every year. Is he comfortable knowing the players he may recruit will leave in a year or two?

Also if he doesn't get the type of recruits the boosters think aren't good enough or name brand enough, will he be forced to recruit how Texas wants him to recruit?

And God help him if he can't beat Oklahoma at least twice a year and beat KU at least once a year or make the tournament every other year.

He doesn't have any pressure here. Hell, he can miss the tournament next year and we'd forgive him because of what he's done for this school and city.

What would be great is if these schools could have Gregg in for a game, like a recruit.

"Gregg, you're gonna love coaching here!! We can get this place almost full nearly half the time!"

        That would really impress him.
