Here's my theory: Bill Self has a clause in his contract that fines him (or worse) any time he utters the words "Wichita State."

It would explain the Iowa State comment, and his normal reticence.

You know he's going to be called in front of the KU Conclave for this one. We figure he's going to get caned.

I've seen several references, on several boards (including their's), that Self is suddenly on the hot seat, or is not really an elite coach. I can only SMH, and I say that as no big fan of Self, and with sure as hell no love for Snob Hill.

I know some real obvious answers. Both Jacobsen and Marshall have beat Self's MickeyD's AA's with teams of relatively-lightly recruited players.

I told my wife before the game started if KU loses I could see them questioning Self and thinking about a change, going out in the round of 32 again. Mainly because this is the fan base that was ready to get rid of Ellis after he missed the shot at the end of the West Virginia game.
