Dear Shockers:
Thank you so much for allowing a few Hoosiers to come and participate on your forum this week. I think the one thing we can all agree on is whatever team wins today must turnaround and root for the other team against Kansas on Sunday.
Basketball, especially college basketball, is one of the most beautiful things in all of our lives. All it takes in five players at a time, a basketball, heart, effort, determination, positive attitude, great teamwork and all out effort. We all know it is rare to get all of those things; however, when you have a team that gives it all you can reach a destination where that team players forever. A championship makes a team and set of players immortal on the hardwood. Sometimes you have teams that fall short of their collective goals; however, you will never forget a team like some of your recent teams or our teams of the early 1990's or 2001-02.
I believe this is a game of destiny and it is special that our two programs get to settle things on the court. I mean this is just special game at the end of the day in my opinion. Let's just watch and marvel at what our programs bring to the table today. I mean really just watch and go for a ride with both teams. It is rare in this day and age when teams won't schedule other teams because they are afraid to lose the game. America was built on competition, never fearing an opponent and offering a fare opportunity to one another. The tournament gives us the opportunity to see the games that some athletic directors and coaches are afraid to schedule. Heck, I would love a home and home with you all, putting Kentucky back on our schedule and not dodging any team in the process. One day I dream that you all will come to Assembly Hall and we will come to Koch Arena to marvel at the beautiful crowds that just want to see the game played the right way.
When you have a team that lives free on the court it is beautiful to watch the spacing on offense, tough defense, great 3-point shooting and all out hustle in all aspects of the game. Maybe you win or maybe you lose; nevertheless, when the game is played the right way you never forget how it was played that day.
My life is based off of attempting to attain the impossible and one dream is to have lunch/dinner with the Koch Brothers just to ask questions about the journey they have experienced in life. Feel free to shoot me a PM if you have any idea how to make the happen!
Boys to end this long message let me tell you that it is truly an honor for my Hoosiers to play your Shockers in Omaha today. Your coach is going to be one of the greats in the future and he has some special traits that make me appreciate the way he coaches the game. I had the pleasure of watching Coach Knight my Freshman Year in College and when he was taken away it hurt. I learned that the game of basketball is much bigger than Indiana University and I have really appreciated watching your team play the game the right way.
Keep that head held high and those feet moving Shockers. Make no mistake about it I want you to come up short tomorrow in Omaha; however, if you all beat my Hoosiers I will be your biggest fan the rest of the tournament.
Now let's get it on Shockers!
