Good idea. Maybe start a few dumpster fires as metaphors for their bball program?

Hang out with famous alumni who might be in town to catch some bball?

Henry Doorley Zoo is a must for the family. Even if the weather is lousy, there are plenty of indoor exhibits.

I can see quite a few things that I would enjoy in and around Omaha. OTOH, I am easily entertained.

Planning your Omaha vacation? Don't miss top attractions like the Henry Doorly Zoo, Durham Museum, Boys Town, and the breath-taking beauty of Lauritzen Garden.

                I second! Outstanding zoo.

Walk around in a Final 4 shirt. If you are there more than 1 day, you could certainly use clean laundry and bust out a Sweet 16 shirt. Perhaps less pompous, but just as effective in this case.

The Strategic Space and Air Museum sounds interesting. Probably depends on the ages of your kids I suppose.

It's been many moons (1996 IIRC) since I've been to Omaha and I said I wasn't going back again until we made another College World Series appearance. :(
Back then I was impressed with the 'Old Market District'; it was always a fun place to spend some time before and after games.

You would probably run into the largest concentration of Shocker fans at a tour of the Lucky Bucket Brewery.

Seriously? Family friendly things to do in Omaha? Are you kidding me? We aren't a family friendly town, never tried to be. We're a drinking town. We're a gambling town. We're a womanizing town. Leave the kids in Wichita. Bring your smokes and some condoms.

On a serious note, I guess the zoo is pretty much our number one family attraction. I'm not a big zoo guy, too much walking and smelly animals, but our zoo is world class. Bring your credit card.

We take our kids to the Durham Museum-it has a lot of Omaha centered exhibits, but has some really cool stuff. Plus the kids can go through old passenger trains, they love it. Not a thing that would necessarily appeal to guys, but a traveling Catherine Hepburn exhibit is at the Durham right now. Those are two things close to the arena.

Also, take your kids across the pedestrian bridge. It's fun, free and you can take a picture of your kids with one foot in Iowa and one foot in Nebraska.
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Omaha has a visitors bureau? Who woulda thunk?

I wonder, if their chain link ball park with a one hole outhouse is still there. (Not much exaggeration here.)
