This is my first post, although I've been reading the boards for a couple of years. WSU grad, early eighties, seen the good and the bad, players, coaches, fans and officials.
Also, yesterday was the first game I was able to see this year; where I live, they don't care much about the Shocks. Yeah there were some calls that could have gone our way, but when a successful team is playing a poor team, the calls almost always go the way of the successful team. And the refs deciding that "Drake would win, no matter what"? Just think about the NBA ref who is going to prison for his betting. No ref in his right mind would plan with another ref to determine a game.
Lastly, I've read so much about how hard the guys are trying and how no one should criticize them, but you know what? The guys I saw yesterday just weren't that good, and some of them just didn't seem to try at the level required of a D1 BBall player. Don't get me wrong, but just because a guy is wearing the black and gold, doesn't make him undeserving of criticism. PJ looked good, Matt had some good moments. He by the way is quite a guy; he stopped by the hospital a few weeks ago to lend support to a friend's daughter who had a massive head injury; didn't even know her. I'm sure all of the guys are pretty good people away from the court; I can just hardly wait for the good old days to come back. Coming from a family of Jhawks, the amount of crap I have to put up with is twice as bad with a bad season.
Sorry for the long rant; just wanted to share some initial thoughts. Thanks for making the forum available!
