MSU just gave HCPL a 5 year extension (not sure why) last season that has a $1.5m buy out if he is fired after this season. They have dumped so much money into their Football "program" (if you want to call it that) that they may not have the funds to buy out PL.

In any case - MSU may become a virtual cellar dweller for the next few years.
Yea, it seems like the writing is on the wall for MSU, Drake, and Bradley to be fighting it out at the bottom next year. I think SIU will be a little better than those teams next year.

There are also a group of fans that are throwing out Chris Jans name as a replacement for Lusk. I would hope that he would not accept an offer from an MVC school.

There are several scenarios that would really get me PO'd

No way he takes a step down to MSU.

ISUr may have burned a bridge they will want about 2 years from now.

What is it exactly that makes Bare fans so wildly out of touch with reality? Honestly, do they all just completely suck at comparative analytics and those fancy things called numbers?

          Let's see here...

          MSU Salary - ~$350K
          BGSU Salary - ~$325K

          MSU MBB Budget - $2.2M
          BGSU MBB Budget - $1.6M

MSU Overall AD Budget - $15M
BGSU Overall AD Budget - $21M

          MSU Conference RPI - 11th
          BGSU Conference RPI - 10th

          MSU MBB RPI - 230
          BGSU MBB RPI - 87

Yeah... I'm kind of seeing it. Career suicide is totally worth it for that extra $600K in budget, to say nothing for the other comparatives that indicate a wash or even a disadvantage going from BGSU to MSU. But who knows, maybe CJ has a big hankering to go watch an uncompetitive FCS football team with 5,000 other people, in an upgraded stadium that looks like a desk organizer for King Kong.

While obviously not done with this season, since the thread is about moving ahead, I'm MORE than pumped about next year. I think some of these guys needed a year and in one respect, the shackles to come off. I expect Wam and Nurger to be MUCH better next year, and even Tevin. The guards will have a log jam and a dogfight.

Pretty sure Lusk has a buyout that's MOST can't afford to pay. Pretty sure he won't be going anywhere.

This analysis seems to have mostly left out transfers and redshirts sitting out this year.

Drake for example had 5 players sitting out this year, 2 of which are Big Ten transfers that will start next year. Not saying that changes their outcome necessarily, but does give the team a different look than implied here.

Players sitting out this season could have an effect on a few other teams as well. Plus like someone else mentioned, there's sure to be some more transfers and changes before next November.

I mentioned in the comments that this doesn't include redshirts and transfers. Feel free to look up that info and share
