As an ISU fan, I'd like to apologize for that. There was no excuse for him to call for that. The vast majority of our fans recognize quality individuals when we see them.
Every fan base have these. I appreciate the INST program and fans. It's obvious our coaches and players have a ton of respect for each other.
I was surprised when I heard that last night's attendance of 6,169 in the 10,200 seat arena was he best home crowd of the year for Indiana State.
Not surprised that the Shocks drew the best Sycamore crowd of the year just a little surprised that the arena was only 60% full. For the season Indiana State drew an average of 4,430 for their home games. That's for a team that was 10-6 at home including a 7-2 record in the Valley with those 2 losses to UNI and WSU.
Last year Indiana State drew an average of 5,946 at its home games and 9,245 for Wichita State. Granted they had a better record last year but a 25% drop in attendance seems a little much. In 2012-13 they averaged 5,726 when they were 18-15 (9-9). Wonder what's up with that.

ISU basketball doesn't get much "wiggle room" from locals/fans/students. When we started out so very poorly, we lost just about everyone. Once you lose them in Terre Haute, they generally won't come back.
Seriously, having one season that started 33-0 was the worst thing that could have happened to ISU basketball, as far as fan perception goes. Literally, in Terre Haute, unless the team is knocking on an undefeated season, most locals don't care, and figure that ISU can't be that good. That's why, as a long time fan, I get so upset when we have (what are supposed to be) good teams do stupid things like lose to the bottom dwellers in the MVC. Our "fans" just bail at that point.
It's really frustrating.
If we could ever quit with the "dancing with mediocrity" thing and string together several 20+ win seasons, multiple NCAA berths, and at least two or three "signature" wins over each of those seasons, we could start getting more support. But this thing with being "almost good" and then losing at home to, say, Bradley, just kills all the good will.
Oh yes, it looks like the State of Indiana is about to approve the $76M renovation of Hulman Center. Press conference at 2:30 local time!

Nice! Also...I gotta say...the Tree's uni's last night were awesome. Little throwback to the Bird days.
It's good to see Indiana St. doing decently well. You guys got some good freshmen and Lansing will have that team/program doing well again. To me the top-4 teams teams that can maintain some consistency in the league are Indiana St., Illinois St., Northern Iowa and of course Wichtia St. Maybe next year we can have 4 teams all Top-100 and get a few teams into the Big Dance.

The biggest thing I would like to get from Wichita State is the intensity and fire displayed by your coach. Lansing is way too unemotional on the sidelines for my tastes. A team will play the same way their coach coaches. You all know how emotional Marshall is. Lansing is the opposite, and many times, our team plays that same way - unemotional.
I hope you can give Lansing a pass on this. I believe he is a solid coach and certainly has Gregg's respect. Maybe with the arena renovation and program stability better times are ahead. I'm hoping so.

Just wanted to drop by and say that it was a great game to watch! Our two seniors were no-shows on senior night. Imagine that. Carter just killed us all the way around. Other than that, we stood toe-to-toe with the #11 team in the land and took the game down to the end. Khristian Smith finally broke out last night - he's been in a funk all season long (lost his best friend last spring, I think that's been messing with his head ever since), and we had some other bright spots, too, like the play of sophomore T.J. Bell. But we don't have enough good players to hang with a team like Wichita State.
I really get a kick out of the relationship the players on the two teams seem to have. Most teams go through the post game handshake line as if they are trying to avoid getting Ebola from the other team. Every time our two teams play, there are hugs, lots of friendly talking between players and coaches, it just seems like both teams respect the hell out of each other.

Very classy move by Marshall, calling timeout with 8 seconds to go so Lansing could sub out our seniors. Classy move.
Anyway, good luck this weekend. I think ISU provided you with the game you needed going into the UNI game. It should focus the team.
TJ Bell has been good in both match-ups with WSU. I like his potential as an upperclassman.
