  • WSU VERSUS INDIANA STATE PREDICTIONS AND PREGAME DISCUSSIONS

Here's the deal. If a Sycamore tree falls at 21st, and Hillside on the 11th, will anybody hear it? Yes, but only 10,506 fans because we would have 22 wins. 11x2=22. Thus our beloved Shocks have an axe to grind and wood to chainsaw down in angry fashion. Now it is Baker and Cotton's turn to get a triple double. Just think of the added numbers to FVV's triple double if he would have played the whole game!!! Yikes!!! It is now 12:22 a.m. so I must push send. We win by 22. TIMBER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't let our lopsided win over Mo State influence your predictions. I appreciate what Paul Lusk is going through (but not enough that I didn't enjoy every last second of last night's game). Lusk is in a tight spot and has no control over the depletion of his team. Injuries and health issues can hit any team at any time. We know because a couple of years ago we went through the same thing.

I'm not sure this win tells us much except that the team and the fans had a lot of fun. We got a lot of points against a not very good team with little defense -- so don't go predicting the world and overlooking that the Trees REALLY want to take us down. See you all Wednesday night and here's hoping we all have just as much fun Wednesday as we did last night. Now commence your predictions.

The Gant/Kitchell combo for Indy State will be the matchip to watch. Those 2 guys go 6'9' and 6'10". It's been beaten into the ground, but I just don't see Wessell being the 4 in this matchup. We need good games for our bigs and stay out of foul trouble.

Gant and Kitchell can be a challenge with the way they both can stretch the floor and pull your bigs away from the basekt. Dvonte Brown and Brenton Scott are two very good guards. Scott is shooting 44.3% from the 3 point line and Brown can shoot both the 3 pointer and slash to the basket. Brown and Scott lead the Sycamores in scoring. Christian Hart rounds out a very solid starting 5 for the Sycamores.

I also agree that while the Shockers played very well against MSU that is not the best opponent, especially in their current state, to use as a measuring stick. We might win by double figures but this is more likely to be a single-digit affair with the Sycamores very capable of upsetting the Shocks.

We need to attack the bigs and neutralize before they it to us.

A 1 point counts the same as a 10. I want to see SHOCKER basketball regardless of the final score.

Agreed with everything you said even when I posted this. My post was to pick us to win by 11 but a win of any kind is fine by me. As a matter of fact, when we go to their barn we will have to play better than some of our recent games to walk out of there with a win at all. With that said, I wanted to enter this at exactly 12:11 a.m., looked at real time when I finished and it was 12:12 a.m. Due to superstitions I changed this to a 22 point win and posted it when my time was 12:22 a.m. While this margin of victory would be a stretch, I will stick with it. Just win Shocks and improve as a team while doing so. We have a tough stretch ahead of us in this here Valley.

On the last prediction thread I had mention that FVV would get 11 assists and he did just that. That was actually a no-brainer that was for sure going to happen sooner than later. Was not even thinking yet in terms of him achieving a triple double. However, here is what is amazing about his triple double. He did this in 24 minutes!!! WOW!!! Just for kicks throw in his 4 steals. Here is what jumps off the stat sheet for FVV last night. 11 assists and 0 turnovers. By the time FVV graduates, it is difficult to imagine just what else he will accomplish. When a 6'0" point guard that is focused on helping his teammates first and foremost, and then also leads our team with 10 rebounds, this is just astounding.

I glad we get the first game against them at home. In general, we do have a tough stretch ahead but we have the home court against most of it. I believe we have Indiana St, Evansville and UNI at home along with SIU, Indiana St and Illinois St on the road.

We don't have to be perfect. We just need to go 4-2 or hopefully better. 3-3 would feel like a skid, but even that puts us at a solid 24-6. We aren't undefeated, we are probably a lock for the Dance already unless we go 0-7 through Arch Madness. I'm going to try to tell myself stuff like this so I can just relax.

Indiana St is good but take a look at the fact that the MVC has officially reached the point where it has gobbled up all of its teams to the extent that we almost have no top 100 games anymore. They all evaporated except for UNI. All games other than UNI are now "bad losses" if we don't win. The Shocks have every reason to run the table.

Indiana State will be a completely different animal. I expect a competitive game most of the way.

People complain when we hold off Bradley by 3 and then people complain when we beat Missouri State by 50. You can't win.

Mr. Baker joins the elite 1000 point club last night with his point a minute effort of 17 points in just 17 minutes. Just for fun he added 2 more blocked shots and 3 steals. I am waiting for the game he drains 7--3 pointers in one game.
