There are shitty teams in all the leagues. I don't see any of the different flagships taking there foot of the pedal. And if you don't enjoy seeing the team win in any of its 32 to 40 opportunities per year Ref, no matter the opponent, you may be suffering from a little of that conference inferiority complex that so infects many on this board. I will take a win by 40 every time. If you think that is bad, watch all the pomp and circumstance and the noise meter when the flagship's McDonald's AAs beat up on fort hays state in the scary phog!

A nice evening all around. The Shox looked good, which was needed...granted against an over matched Bears team. I have been intrigued by the back stories of the 1964-65 Final Four team that was honored at halftime. I read and watched Lutz's piece on the team. My dad's two favorite players of all time were Warren Armstrong and Dave Stallworth. I wanted a glimps of the the kind of player Stallworth was. I googled Stallworth to find some video to watch the greatest Shocker of all time. I watched highlights of game 5 of the 1970 NBA finals between the Knicks and Lakers. Stallworth was amazing in the second half, scoring at least 10 points, all against Wilt Chamberlain. Remember Willis Reed injured his right leg during the finals and was very limited the last 3 games of the series. Stallworth was asked to guard Chamberlain, who once scored 100 points in an NBA game. Dave the Rave was great on defense, holding Chamberlain in check, while scoring multiple times on the offensive end. With the game on the line and about a minute to go in the game, Stallworth drove the right side of the lane against Chamberlain and scored on an athletic reverse layup helping the Knicks to a slim win over the Lakers. I was impressed with Stallworth's shooting range, out to at least the current 3-point line in today's college game. He could put it on the floor and dribble in traffic. He was also asked to bring the ball up the floor like a point guard. On defense, he could guard on the perimeter as well as holding much bigger guys (Chamberlain) on the low block. He was a tenacious rebounder as well.
I watched all of game 7. The game where Willis Reed dragged his right leg up and down the floor until it finally gave out early in the second half. Oh, by the way, guess who came in for Reed? None other than Nate Bowman. At 6-10 or 6-11 Bowman reminded me of Ozell Jones. Very athletic. Runs the floor as well as any big man, period. Nate filled in for Reed nicely, scoring 6 points in the second half, with several rebounds. I was surprised as Bowman made 2 nice 16-foot jumpers from the perimeter. I spent a couple of hours watching these event this afternoon. I would watch more if I had the on-line resources.
I am more proud than ever to be a Shocker and know our program had these two fine players in our history. For those wondering how Stallworth and Bowman would translate in to today's college game. They would be great today, make no mistake about it. I love being a Shocker fan, today, tomorrow and forever. GO SHOX!!!

K St lost to UCLA in the Final 4 game by only 6 shooting terrible from the FT line. UCLA won easily in the Championship game.

I think all in all it was about much more than the game itself. MSU was playing shorthanded and we played as if we were getting ready for UNI and the otheir teams left on our schedual. Marshall was very moved by the weekend events honoring the 64-65 final four team, you could tell by listening to him he was proud to honor them and be a part of it for him and his players. The interview with Fred after the game was awsome, such a class act, couldnt be any prouder to have someone like that leading our team. As for the game it was a mis-match and no one is making it any more than what it is, the next game on our schedual, kinda like when KU plays Texas Tech, or Kentucky playing Missouri.... I looked at how our players were playing and not so much how MSU was...

It was neat to see the players have fun again. When FVV smacked JR Simon's butt after JR hit the three, I laughed so hard. Saying something like "that was hard to watch..." after a recovery game feels like an effort to start a fight where there doesn't need to be one. I fully understand that ShockRef isn't saying it's WSU's fault, but if you can't have fun in a game like this you're probably going to have stress and anxiety problems from your addiction to negativity.

We've had 3 other responses to my point and all agree with the Mo State program status. Others were happy with the younger players getting significant playing time and I get that too.
Only you want to debate the issue of beating up a significantly inferior opponent and just how much of a satisfied feeling you have in your scrotum. You would probably be happy with a full schedule of SWAC teams to beat by 40 every game. If that was the case, you will need a full drum of anal lube to satisfy your elation.
That is all.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

As has been said in many ways, this was a crush but the benefits of playing EVERYONE (almost) at least 10 minutes and NOT playing the studs the last 10 or so??? That's making the best possible scenario happen. Personally, I LOVED IT!

We won the game, our subs got lots of minutes to continue to better prepare them for tougher games, FVV gets a triple-double, Baker joins the elite 1000 point club, and none of our players got hurt that game. So now we hope this positive momentum continues all the way through the rest of the Season because we do have some tough challenges down-stream and we want to start peaking at the ideal juncture of games. Many moons ago we were playing at their barn the Season they thought they might Dance. They beat us while their players were making choking gestures and making a travesty of their win. Did I hear we have now beat the Bears around the last 9 times in a row? Progress continues under the Marshall Plan and records continue to be broken.Last edited by forevershockerfan; February 9, 2015, 09:06 AM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
