So here's a recap of game night - several of us SN'rs hooked up at Whole Hog. @shoxlax, @ShockerInKC, and a couple of others feasted on some pretty good BBQ before heading over to the game. It was fun just sitting around talking about something we are all very passionate about.
I had the pleasure of sitting next to Paul Millers parents during the 1st half of the game. They said that Paul resides in KC now and is out of Pro BB. Mama Miller also said "Once a Shocker - Always a Shocker".
The 2nd half of the game I sat a little closer to the court along with Shoxlax and several other fans. There were a lot of Shocker fans there.
The game:
Our guys are so calm and cool. There were several times that MSU would make a really nice play and the crowd would stand up and start cheering - FVV, TC, & RB would put them right back in their seats. It was almost comical.
How deep are we when Nurger is coming in with the walk-ons ? We've got some guys who are stepping up.
Kelly and Brown are going to be beast sooner rather than later. Although I love it when they flush a rebound. Sometimes they just need to secure the ball and go back up with it.
Since Tekele has gotten rid of the finger splint - he's dangerous from anywhere on the court.
Ruder is lucky that Tekele didn't ***** slap him when he pushed TC's hand away. I guess TC did kind of - 6 pts Austin....really ?
WTH happened to Thurman ? He obviously hasn't been working out. He looked lost and like he didn't want to be there. When he chose SMS - I was disappointed now I'm glad he didn't go to WSU
Paul Lusk days are numbered. The local sports call in show was lit up today with hillbillies wanting to run him off. It's going to be difficult for any coach to succeed there. It looks like their recruiting budget amounts to a rented Prius and 2 tanks of gas. If they don't dig a little deeper and give Lusk (or a new coach) something to work with - they are only going to be as talented as the kids within a 300 mile radius are. They are truly a local team.
The Bears played hard in the 1st half. The crowd was big (for SMS) and into it and their guys responded. My question to Bear fans is - where are all of you for all of the non WSU games. The last 4 or 5 times WSU was there - the place was rocking. I was invited by a friend to sit in his suite for the MSU-Drake game and there were 1000 people there....maybe. It was pathetic. SMS will win more games if you fans bring the energy.
I listened to the post game show with Lusk - He was very complimentary of the Shocks and felt his team did all that they could against them. I agree.
Thanks to all of the Shocker fans who made the trek to Springfield. It's a Great Day to be a Shocker.
