I really enjoy watching Baker block shots without fouling.

Evan gets away with one or two travels per game where he will be on his stomach and then raise to his knees (travel) and it does not get called. So we can't be too picky imo.

Well I only got to see the first half of the game because my pos DVR refused to let me advance to the second half. Kept locking up when I tried to fast forward past halftime. Reset the cable box twice and still locked up so I finally got mad and gave up.
I hate Cox cable with a passion. Their pos cable boxes and dvrs are not worth the price you pay. I wish we had another cable company that offered a good package including cable and tv. If there was I'd tell Cox to f off.
As for what I did see, I thought it was a well played first half. DC was on it tonight. Brown played probably the best game of his career so far. Lots of blocks, although I will say our guys got away with a lot of muggings on the defensive end while SIU was getting called for touch fouls.
A good performance, but hard to judge this one since SIU is so bad. Be interesting to see how they do against Evansville and UNI. Gotta feel for Barry, he got screwed at MSU then had to pick up Lowerys mess when he got to SIU.
One last thing, absolutely piss poor scheduling that ISU blue and ISU red have already played twice in the first 5 conference games. Whoever put together the schedule should be shot

Thought the Shocks played a solid game, first half was the best shooting wise we've had over the last 3-4 games. Mr. Carter had his best offensive game, and Cotton had anotheir solid shooting game. He seems to be getting his shooting stroke again, I think the sprained finger on his shooting hand effected it more than we know. Ron and Fred played solid, Ron's defense was really good, had a few blocks and just played really physical without fouling. Freshmen group got alot of solid minutes. Good to see Rono getting some minutes, he just needs to get more solid on the boards. Bush did well, still a work in progress, don't know how much he will see the court in critical situations, probably not many. Kelly, Shaq, Brown, and Holland seem to have seperated from the otheir reserves and will need to give us solid minutes as the season goes. Evansville this Saturday will be anotheir good test as was Loyola last weekend. All in all I thought we played a pretty clean game and I thought SIU played pretty dang hard, especially in the second half when some of their shots started to fall. Really like Barry, I hope he can turn SIU around...

Even with the win, we drop 3 spots in the RPI. SIU with the loss, rises 14 spots.
I absolutely hate this game. It was a win. I'm happy.
The refs reviewed the play with the Goodwin guy and Carter. It better not come off as bad on replay as I saw live. Didn't that constitute excessive or unnecessary, even if there appeared to be no intent? Doesn't that mean it should have been a flagrant? Really pissed about that whole situation.
I wish we could beat this annual 300 RPI dud by about 30 like it deserves, but we never do. They got up for us after halftime and we kinda put it on cruise control with the crazy lineups.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

What an odd game. Crowd was not very good. Was really to explode a couple times, but never materialized. Thought Wessel played great. The coach had the quickest hook that I have ever seen him have. Shaq not as good this time. Nurger looked good in limited minutes. SIU is not very good, but they are very young. Brown works hard, fun to watch.

Save for a couple hustle plays we made, crowd sucked as usual.
For all the chances we get to cheer nowadays.. God forbid, if we ever go on a slide again, I'll be sure to remind everybody how good we had it, how often we've had the chance to stand up and make noise, when we're losing at home to UMKC by 15.

We're in a string of three straight home games against valley cellar-dwellars and you guys wonder why the crowd sucks?! Fans come to these types of games to be entertained, and I know I wasn't very entertained for about 90 percent of the game last night. I was just glad to see at least most of the seats full.
We've won 23 straight games against Valley competition and 25 straight home games. Let's face it, we all knew we we're going to win. We need some competition in the top 200 to get people out of their seats.

Looking at the facts:
-We beat a conference opponent
-The game wasn't in doubt from the tip
-We didn't get as much production from FVV or Baker (compared to usual)
-Our reserves got some good minutes
-No one got injured
I'd say we're okay. Enjoy the ride, folks."In God we trust, all others must bring data." - W. Edwards Deming

I thought the game started out with some great determined play by the starters that slowed way down once the reserves started checking in. And when Fred went to the bench with his second foul it was like someone took the air out of the ball. For all his accolades, Baker is not the PG Fred is and it really showed last night. To shocks02's earlier point about three straight games against bottom dwellers, I'm encouraged by the fact that 3G has put up to three frosh in the lineup early and often during these games and, for the most part, our youngsters are competing as well, if not better, than those of our opponents. Coach has a lot of young talent for which he's got to figure out how to get playing time and these last few games have given him that opportunity.

It seemed to me that the game plan was get a nice lead and use this game as a growing experience and tinker with some different lineups. 3G did just enough adjusting to keep the lead in the 10-15 pts range but you could tell he wasn't really pressing to blow the doors off. It was more important to get some fresh faces in there and see what they can do.
