  • WSU VERSUS SIU PREDICTIONS AND PREGAME DISCUSSIONS

Here's the deal.It was Miller Time, Feb. 4th 2006 when SIU was tough as nails and came here and we beat them in OT-71-63. Or was it double overtime? Dunno, but Paul Miller scored 30 to lead the way and later was MVC Player Of The Year. Now fast-forward from that game to last Season. Yes, we did sweep SIU but they were a tough match-up. Some times the importance of how teams match-up is under rated. Case in point was several of the teams that lost this very weekend that were in the Top-20. Some of those loses were even home losses. Yesterday, SIU played their hearts out but lost a heart-breaker to the toothpicks. Thus they come to 21st and Hillside, hungry for a win.

As Dorthy proclaimed, "there's no place like home." Click, Click. SN News Flash." Toto was not a Salukis' and beating our beloved Shocks here at 21st. and Hillside is harder than pulling hens teeth. We are coming off a nice road win but are still in search of more complete games, as close to 40 minutes that we can achieve. This will be that "coming out" game where we hit on all cylinders. We will win by 22. FVV will have 11 assists, Baker will score seven 3-pointers and Cotton will bring tears of joy to our eyes as we watch him weaving on Offense and leading our woven Defense as he give us Senior leadership. Our team depth will continue to develop and our inside game will keep improving.

    Cotton And Carter Time----77

I think Barry's in for a real bad visit.

    Shockers 76,
    Salukis 47

Lots of minutes for the bench.

officiating crew: Karl Hess, John Higgins, and the guy that had the 2 horrendous calls in the game against Bradley.
Karl throws Gregg out after 2 minutes, the guy from the Bradley game throws FVV out after another horrendously missed charge call, and in the middle of the game, Higgins calls for an official time out so that he can comb his hair.

Oh, and the Shockers still win by double digits.

Higgins can do whatever he wants. He's a good official.

This one will be closer than expected. I can't give you a reason, other than its a not good SIU team coming to Koch Arena.... historically its just closer than anticipated. I will guarantee we get a good sound bite from Barry afterwards though. Something akin to "That's a pretty damn good team over there, did you see them play?"

I agree, everyone please play nice or else some timeouts may be given until @kai: decides what, if any, action might be taken.

Tied at half, win by 20. Prototypical trap game.

                          One thing I WON'T predict because it never happens...up by 30 , plenty of time for reserves...like a curse...I'll say 76-58 Shockers.

Those worried that we arent winning by 30 and that the reserves arent getting time are missing the fact that we arent winning by 30 BECAUSE the reserves are getting MEANINGFUL time during the game. Playing mop up minutes is different than playing up 8 with 9 mins left.

"Ralph Miller was one of the finest coaches in the history of intercollegiate basketball. His teams were always fundamentally sound, team oriented, well conditioned, and ran both their offense and defense with great patience. I know of no coach whose teams competed against his, whether it be at Wichita State, Iowa, or Oregon State, who did not have great respect for him."—John Wooden
