Actually, SB, there's one other significant difference visible in your chart immediately above. Last year's team was three points stronger off the bench than its opponents; this year's bench is two points weaker than its opponents' bench.

Of course, looking at who's on this year's bench vs. last year's, that's hardly a surprise.

Probably all wet on how I'm understanding the chart, but I would think that the "Opponents Bench" increase would have to due with the increase in quality of teams we played in non-con...they have stronger benches than last year's teams.

I agree that a faster tempo would benefit this team. It might be a catch 22 though, as depth has not been established yet.

I think facing quite a few zone defenses has made this more extreme than would be expected. I think WSU would be in the 200's (not fast, but not extremely slow either) if it weren't for some games where the zone has led to a patient WSU team using 30+ seconds of shot clock quite often.
