I've never seen anyone attempt to actually pull together data to see which refs call the most/fewest fouls per game. There are obviously many factors that need accounted for (games going to OT will likely have more fouls than games that end in regulation, etc.) Ken Pomeroy seems to have accounted for many of those factors, and his results, as well as his commentary, are fascinating.

StatSheet.com has stats of referees, though therre is no analysis nor expalnation there.
When watching the Shockers, it seems that there is usually one official whose calls seemingly almost always go against the Shockers. If true, that shouldn't happen.
Unfortunately the ref stats available give each of the three refs at a game the same statistics. Doesn't seem like that happens in Wichita too often.
The thing that bugs me most is when one official tries to make up for a thought-to-be weaker colleague. You know the kind, the one that makes a call where there are three players' bodies between him and the ball and he calls the jump ball (or a reach-in foul) while the other two with a good view call nothing."I not sure that I've ever been around a more competitive player or young man than Fred VanVleet. I like to win more than 99.9% of the people in this world, but he may top me." -- Gregg Marshall 12/23/13 :peaceful:

As an official, I can honestly say I absolutely HATE the way college games are called now. I understand the need to take rough play out of the equation, but a simple touch of a ball handler is not enough to warrant a foul in my opinion. Unfortunately, if these guys want to work the NCAA Tournament, they have to call it by the book, because they know if they don't, they may not see postseason. It is interesting to see the offical chart though, and seeing the way some officials call the fouls and some don't.
As for Jannsen being a terrible official, that may be, but Mike Kennedy is by far the worst announcer I have ever listened to, and I refuse to listen to Shocker games on the radio because of his homer attitude and his constant berating of officials. At least when Terry Elliot was the color guy on the baseball games, he was a voice of reason. I know others have the same disdain for MK as I do, and others love him to death. To each their own. I can't stand him.
