Kinda neat for the state of Kentucky today!!! Got me thinking how many other college basketball fans across this great nation in other states get to enjoy a basketball game between their in-state schools.
Well....try this on for size. The following list is the current Top-25 rankings. EVERY team in the Top-25 has played an in-state school NOT in the same conference in which that Top-25 team resides. With the exception of Arizona (lol)....guess which TWO teams HAVE NOT played an in-state school this season??????
...if you guessed it has anything to do with Kansas....you would be right. :)
Have a look~see.........
1. Kentucky played Louisville
2. Duke played Elon
3. Arizona played the closest Div 1 team possible in San Diego St., UTEP and UNLV
4. Louisville played Kentucky
5. Virginia played VCU, James Madison and Norfolk University
6. Wisconsin played Green Bay
7. Villanova played La Salle
8. Gonzaga played Washington St.
9. Texas played UT of Arlington, Texas St. and Rice
10. Kansas HAS NOT and WILL NOT play Wichita St. ~ Lol
11. Wichita St. played Newman University
12. Iowa St. played Drake
13. Washington played Eastern Washington and Seattle
14. Utah played BYU
15. Maryland DID NOT play Coppin St. (Maryland). Mark Turgeon c’mon man…I know your KU roots are strong and nothing can be gained by playing schools at “that level”…but c’mon…seriously…you’re the only one in the Top-25 besides Kansas not playing an out-of-conference game against an in-state university.
16. Notre Dame played Purdue
17. St. John’s played Syracuse
18. West Virginia played Marshall
19. Oklahoma played both Tulsa and Oral Roberts
20. North Carolina played Davidson, North Carolina Central and UNC Greensboro
21. Ohio St. played Miami of Ohio
22. Baylor played Texas A&M
23. Northern Iowa played Iowa
24. Colorado St. played University of Northern Colorado and Colorado
25. TCU played UT of Arlington
I know I'm preaching to the choir here but....do we see a pattern????????
