Another factor would be playing another year with the best point guard in the country and continue to write another chapter in the Ron Baker Story... that might prove to be the 'trump' card.

That's my point: he only stays if he feels the Ron Baker story concludes in Wichita. And, as much as I like Ron's game, I don't think he is a first round pick. He'd have to pick up his game (read: unstoppable offense; AC; X-man) for that to happen.

With all due respect. Hogwash. Why wouldn't he think that he could do both? Not everyone is fixed on the NBA to the point that they decide not to finish other goals that they have. Putting off the NBA for one year is a perfectly fine and reasonable option. He may not be a first round pick but second round picks have made the NBA too.

If everyone who can return, does return, that will leave us two players over. I don't think that will happen because I think there are 1 or 2 player out of a group of three who won't be returning. Two of the three players would be Ron and Evan, assuming they both graduate this spring. The other would be Holland. I'd rather have one or two guards not return rather than show the door to a couple of big men.

When looking at Ron and the NBA one should not fixate on whether he will be an immediate All-Star, leading scorer or even a starter. Think about his all around game and can he make a team better. Don't just consider his game as it is, as part of a top twenty team. Consider what his game might be surrounded by NBA caliber players.

I'm of the opinion he will return. I also think he will take a long hard look at leaving. We'll see this spring.

Conner Frankamp makes 16 scholarship worthy players next fall. Three of those players will not be on scholarship. I don't think that factors in to Evan or Ron's decision to stay or go, but it might have factored in to Gregg's decision to sign 4 + Conner.

I have never assumed that Conner was going to get a scholarship next year. I could easily see Gregg telling Conner that next year's scholarships were taken but that he would get one for the 16-17 season. Does anyone know for sure?

No one knows anything for sure. That's why we won't know until May or June.

I don't get some members here and their holier than thou attitude of admonishing those who comment (on a fan discussion board) about real issues such as who wont be back next year. Who cares if it is still in current season. I have to admit, every game I sadly watch TC and DC play their last year, knowing we have 4 signed recruits coming in next year (in theory), which puts us over the limit by 2. Two non-seniors from this years team will not be here next year (or a reshuffle of scholarship resources within). It's not taboo to speak of it. It's reality.

Not taboo. But you are speculating and spreading rumors without any facts about "real" people. It does make me a quite uncomfortable but there are a lot of people who like to spread these things. I don't see other fan bases obsessing about it as much as ours seem to. But that is just my opinion.

Speculating...with out facts...welcome to the party shockmonster. It's called a fan discussion board. For crying out loud, we are 2 over the limit. Speculation is that 2 players, in theory, who are non-senior members of this basketball team will not be here next year. It's a moving target from game to game on who is behind door number one and two. If this makes anyone uncomfortable, maybe a cooking discussion board is in the cards for them. It will work itself out in the next few months, but discussing it is well within the honey spot for a discussion board.

By the way, did I say Baker is going to stay...book it. In my mind it's fact anyway, for what it is worth. I know, I know, my opinions don't mean much, but it's all I got.

I kinda feel like if a kid can't crack the roster, he will be fine with the idea of moving on. It's not like he will be surprised or something if he gets "the talk."

And if he wants to be here enough to pay his own way, problem solved. It's not actually that mean to mention someone may not be back when they are at the bottom of every stat category... Especially minutes. They think it the moment they hear of a new recruit at their position, I would guess.
I wouldnt even call what many here do speculation. When you really think about it, we are looking at the stat sheet and saying "a couple of these guys down here might not keep making the team if they don't inprove." It's pretty straight forward and logical. It's not personal. We want everyone who wears the uniform to go to the NBA. The rest is up to them.
