Would that be legal within NCAA rules?

They've always received a framed jersey at the end of the season.

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

I would bet the Cotton and Carter jerseys get signed and are in the Marshall auction.

I think on balance, the guy makes some good points, but the Valley comment makes it sound like he really hasn't watched Ron much this year and is relying more on stats.

He may not be John Wall or Russell Westbrook, but I don't see Ron struggling with the pick and roll or transition game in the NBA.

There's only so many hours in the day and Givony is more plugged in than usual on international prospects. It would shock me if he has watched a lot of our games this year.

"I actually think (Foster) is more of (an NBA) point guard than Ron Baker is," Givony says. "Just because he can really create his own shots, he can pick and roll, he can get to the rim, he can get to the free-throw line.

"Where with Ron, I don't see him as a high-volume shot creator. He's not going to get around people. He's not going to finish around people. He's not going to be a great transition player."

I quit reading the article after this brilliant assessment by the draft "expert". Are you kidding me? Not going to get around people? Not finish around people? Not a great transition player? Are we sure this guy is watching the right player when he breaks down film?

Based on his comments, I think it's unlikely that Givony has done much video scouting and actual watching when it comes to Baker.

It would also clear up a bit of the scholarships for next year, meaning less likely to have to lose other players. Imagine having 4 guys in the nba.., cle, Ron, tourre, gal,.
Lufile is d league and wiggins getting reps.
Carter will get some looks too as an u drafted guy, tekele will get offers overseas too
I selfishly would like to see him stay. Loaded next year with RB which takes some pressure off him, increases his assists, allows him to work on his game, and WSU will be top 10 next year getting a lot of publicity (as will Ron).
Hopefully, he stays, remains healthy, and goes 1st round after his senior year.

Coould one reason for assists being down a little bit is that Cle isn't there to give him 2-3 easy assists a game?

More important than where Baker would be drafted this year (first or second) is whether or not he has a realistic shot at improving his draft stock with another year.

It's possible that a fringe first round pick is just the highest Baker will ever be valued as by the NBA Draft, whether he leaves this year or next. Ultimately, he is a combo guard that doesn't fit into a neat category, he's already going to be older than most people being drafted, and he's unlikely to get major experience as a point guard in his senior season with CF theoretically being added to the backup-PG duties.

I would think any extra time with Marshall will make anyone a better basketball player, so in that sense he should definitely be a better pro prospect with another year with him ... but I don't know much about the NBA draft, and it's entirely possible Baker just has a ceiling on his draft performance based on what they value.

If he can't improve his draft rating, though, I would think coming back for his senior year wouldn't accomplish much. Ultimately, as a high level athlete, get paid before you get hurt, IMO.
