Junior guard Evan Wessel is 40-0 in home games in which he played.

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall wasn't going to say his players were looking past this game to a Top 25 showdown at Northern Iowa on Saturday. But even Marshall wondered if th...

Home games.. I don't think he played 35 home games last year. :-)

No home losses this season (yet, knick om wood)

This would be the 1 point OT loss at top 10 Utah and the 2 point loss to NCAA runner up UK in the tourney. Impressive!

Even if Evan never scores a point, with a record like this, a coach have to play him!

It sounds like we better get 4 or 5 more Wessel-type players. Then we'll really have a good team.

Eh. Wessel is like an Offensive Tackle in football. A good one makes average players look good and good players look great, but you aren't going to have him in a skill position. Wessel does his job so that the "skill" players can do theirs.

Wessel is a football player playing basketball. He's good at hustling, playing tough, and getting loose balls. Think of the fumble drill in football. If he gives us some offense, then it's a bonus.

I find it interesting some on SN find it difficult to accept Evan as a "starter" due to him playing by traditional standards out of position and he lacks offensive production, thus creating a 5 on 4 scenario. His contribution to Shocker basketball can be found partially on the stat sheet and partially by observation of the non-stat sheet benefits. It is some what similar to evaluating EO during his senior year. EO was a good screener, rebounder and shot blocker., but had zero impact on offense. Some would argue he, during his 15 minutes of playing time, totally unmotivated the opposition from entering the paint.

The point is, not every player has to score consistently every game. We have Baker, FVV, Cotton and Carter (as well as a couple players off the bench) for that. In fact, in Evan's case, we know on occasion he can score in bunches (ex: 15 vs. STL). Why does he seem to get key rebounds, steals, blocks? Why does he have nearly a 3-1 assist-to-TO ratio? THE MAN CAN FUGGIN PLAY PEOPLE. AND THE MAN FUGGIN CONTRIBUTES TO THE TEAM WINNING. He helps contribute to a well oiled machine. We don't win as much without him...period. He doesn't play pretty. That's ok, as long as he plays.

Evan is so tough that someday if he were to join SN, he would be the only poster that could click on thanks and likes for his own posts if he wanted to.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

He would be the only poster capable of reaching through the screen and punching you in the face. Unless Tekele joined.

Evan is a roughneck on the floor. I like his intestinal fortitude too, but gosh damn he is a liability on offense. The dude is shooting .38% from the floor, 33% from the 3 and 57% from the charity line.

I realize I'm in the minority, but I just don't see all the love. Graham Hatch he is not. Now before you all get angry, I sure wouldn't mind having Evan getting my back in a dark alley.

Fred is a liability in height, but he gives us a couple of other things that make us winners. Some people just can't seem to see the trees through the forest.

I'm so tempted to do the classic, out of touch and missing the point rant to defend Fred right here.

DID YOU JUST SAY FRED IS A LIABILITY!!!?

So you're saying Malcolm ARMSTUD is better than Fred, then? That's what I'm hearing here.
