Interesting how that is the headline for a KU win over Utah on a Kansas City-focused website.

Think they wanna see the matchup?

Too bad there's nothing to gain for the flagship.
      Deuces Valley.
      ... No really, deuces.

Dont have the link handy but Andy Katz spoke with Utah coach after the KU game and he described the Shox as a "well oiled machine".

Biggest difference: The Shox couldn't fully close the deal. A deeper, "more physical" KU team did, flipping a 55-53 deficit with 3:36 left in the tilt thanks to an eight-for-eight finish at the free-throw line -- six for six over the final 40 seconds.
Odd. I thought the biggest difference was that WSU played the game in Utah, in front of a great crowd, while KU played a "neutral" site game with 95% of the crowd behind them and their logo on the court.

You could definitely tell the front court difference between WSU and KU with those two games. You could also tell the backcourt difference. One KU wins, one WSU wins.

"I've even thought about making (Traylor) a backup point," Self said. "I'm serious."
Where have you gone, Conner Frankamp?
            Oh, yeah. That's right.

The article talks about KU being able to the deal where the Shox fell short. KU hit 21-23 FTs. FTs were a major factor in both of those games.. Much more so than physicality.

This is definitely it, and the one thing I'm worried about WSU this year.

FTs are vital to winning a close game, and we are not performing well on that end this season.

This is the guy who went to jail a week ago for getting into an altercation with the police right? And then he got to play that weekend? Maybe he could draw on that experience he may have from passing out dimes? Hehe

One game he had 12 points 11 boards and 3 blocks. The other he had 8 points 11 boards and 3 blocks. So big difference in production there.

Note to myself: More physical front line caused Utah to shoot 4-19 from the 3. If we had KUs big men, Utah would not have shot 9-21 against us. Also, crowd had nothing to do with either. Got it.

A free throw. Fred's missed front end with 7 seconds left. Evan made the only 2 other Shocker FTs over the last 4 minutes. The Shocks were 9-12 (.750) before that single miss.

To be fair, Chapman and Bachynski had 11 points, 8 boards against us, 5 points 4 boards against KU.

That's quite the headline and lots of talk regarding Wichita St. out of KC. Interesting. Me thinks the people and organizers in that area want to see these two programs play at The Sprint Center like yesterday.

when/if marshall leaves, and the shockers show signs of weakening/downtrending, ku will play wichita state. all the talk of "how would it benefit us" and "no good reason to" yada yada yada would be brainwiped and completely forgotten.

You mean kinda like after the Smithson/ Fogler era. Then they can say oh look we beat you by 30+ . I think WSU wont fall that far again.
