I'm flattered that I'm the subject of one of your 11 posts over nearly nine years.

I didn't mean to imply it was a one off game. The scenario mentioned above would also not be a one off game as it would happen every year.

Your second paragraph is interesting and is exactly what I was asking about. I assume that alone would prevent KU and Kstate from playing each other a 3rd time. It seems like it would also mess with the logistics of any type of neutral court tournament involving all three teams. I get that "no sane" program would ever give up a home conference game. I was trying to get to the root of the issue which is the logistics of this type of event: Given enough support and money for a non-conference tournament/legislative requirements etc, could it even exist?

Edit: I looked through your posting history and see you have only ever posted about KU. If I had known this when I originally posted, I would not have been so cordial. I feel as if I've been had.

Only post when I feel like I have something to add, hence the very few posts. I do enjoy the Shockers and reading the discussions here.

It's just not possible in a tournament scenerio. Even dismissing the fact that KU/KSU can't play each other outside of Big 12 play, you are only allowed to play in 1 exempt tourney each year (which is the only type of tournament that programs the caliber of KU and WSU would consider playing in). And for KU at least that rotation is completely filled with the traditional tournaments. KU (or WSU) isn't going to give up trips to Hawaii, NYC, etc to play in Topeka.

The only way that an event would work if it was a one night, neutral court tournament featuring the three teams plus another opponent rotating who plays. So WSU gets KU one year, KSU the next. But, at least for KU, that sort of thing just doesn't fit with their scheduling philosophy (rightly or wrongly). There is just not enough perceived value in it (beyond interstate goodwill, which, again right or wrongly, KU doesn't highly rate).

Weber was just on 810 and says they are close to getting a Sprint Center/IBA series together for the Shox and K-State.

Yearly? Or just a one off H/H (or N/N) series?

I'd take a locked-in yearly series right now. Would be good for the state.

Now do the same for KU, only alternated. If we play KSU in IBA, we play KU in SC (then next year, switch).

KU will continue to schedule in a way that they feel is most beneficial to them (Marquee games, true road games for recruiting/as a favor, home buy games, home game in KC), WSU will do the same (home and homes, home buy games, no away buy games). If their interests ever line up they'll play. Until then there's no point in discussing it.

I've pretty much stopped taking part in the "chickenhawk vs WSU discussion because I've really grown tired of it, and I just don't care anymore. Since you have chosen to defend your BS chickenhawk arrogance and dishonesty on OUR message board, I feel forced to respond. Based on this article, it sounds a KState game at IBA would not happen until 2017 or 2018..

Based on a lot of the posts on this thread, it sounds like the whole Gov's Cup has no chance of coming to fruition.

Playing on the recent success of B1G v. ACC and B12 v. SEC, as well as some recent rankings I've seen that compare each state based on their D1 basketball team's successes, how about a Kansas v. Missouri or Kansas v. Oklahoma or Kansas v. Colorado competition? In particular, the possibilities for the publicity that Kansas v. Missouri could garner would be huge!! And since Mizzou is no longer in the B12 it wouldn't present the same scheduling hurdles that the Gov's Cup would create. It could consist of two games per team in a given year. The Shocks would get Mizzou and St.Louis, KU would get Missouri and Missouri St, and KSU would play Missouri St. and St.Louis. That would be a lot of fun! This has likely been thought of already, but it seems like a more plausible approach to getting some good non-conference games on our schedule. Thoughts?

KU isn't going to participate in any way shape form. It would probably take KState 5 years just to agree in principle. Weber says KSU and Wichita are talking about a neutral - neutral matchup but they are aleady committed to playing in Intrust next year and it won't be against WSU. Weber is talking the talk, but they are not walking the walk....

THANK YOU!!!! I don't understand that at ALL!!!!! 18,000 people lodging, parking, eating, and drinking benefits the Show Me state not Kansas. Stupid that KU and KSU take their games there. Unless there is some crazy financial loophole contract to keep dollars in Kansas when playing at Sprint....why give it away??? I'm really REALLY glad Wichita St. has a BIG-BOY professional arena in its home city of Wichita. Keeps dollars in Wichita!!! If the State legislators are pushing for these 3 Kansas teams to play games....they should simply mandate that the games stay in KANSAS!!! Like in the state's LARGEST CITY Wichita and play in the state's ONLY professional big-boy arena!!!!! Checks and balances...keep the dollars in Kansas!!! Sorry for the rant....I'm gonna go write a strongly worded letter to the Kansas Tourism office!!!!!!!! Lol

Actually, the lines are quite sharp. The Sprint Center and the Plaza are about the only things Jocos will cross the State line for, unless you live near the state line. In that case, you will cross the street (State Line Rd) for cheap gas and Two Buck Chuck at Trader Joe's...

Of course, Jayhawk fans would drive through Afghanistan to the Bagdad Center to watch the hawks...
