I second the comments about FVV. How many times do I have to see Fred force up a contested layup on the break when he has Baker trailing him? Never thought I would type that sentence. Honestly, I think the combination of all the accolades, the departure of Cle, and no longer having 3 freaks at the 5 to lop the ball to has had some effect on Fred and Ron to some degree. They will work it out as usual tho.

Easily the best photo from last night's game ...
“The rebellion on the populist right against the results of the 2020 election was partly a cynical, knowing effort by political operators and their hype men in the media to steal an election or at least get rich trying. But it was also the tragic consequence of the informational malnourishment so badly afflicting the nation. ... Americans gorge themselves daily on empty informational calories, indulging their sugar fixes of self-affirming half-truths and even outright lies.'”

I will add my name to the crowd that is seeing some unusually selfish play from these guys. Several fast breaks that should have been assists but instead were taken up for the contested layup. And last night, the fouls they were anticipating weren't being called. Fred did it, Tekele did it, I'm sure Ron did it too, but Fred and Tekele are the two plays that stuck in my mind. Easy drop offs for the trail man. I appreciate the confidence in their ability, but just drop it off for the easy layup...its what got WSU where we are now.
That said, this team is already good and is going to be great if Kelly and Morris can continue to grow. I thought Kelly grew up last night. I watched him off the ball....kid is figuring it out. Both Kelly and Morris have to learn that its not just the hands that draw foul calls. And whatever switch Carter found in the first half....just break it off in the on position, he was a different player when he came back in.-Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind-

Regarding Fred, he's hunting his shot a bit too much but his defense and floor command has been outstanding. His best offense is when he let's it come to him rather than trying to be the man. He's driving into the trees a bit too much but I'm confident he'll get some of those bad habits worked out. Ron is playing at AA levels and Darius is a great bonus if he can stay on the floor like he did last night.

Agreed on the sentiment that as of today through the season, Fred hasn't played up to AA caliber, but he does deserve the honors. He just needs to figure it out, and part of that is the team figuring it out. I think the biggest issue is losing Cleanthony. He REALLY opened up our offense for us. His ability to dribble drive, as well as his ability to shoot the three allowed all of our guys to thrive more frequently. It added spacing around the court, and it made their defenders play more honestly on the perimeter with our PF. I love Wessel, and he's been playing really well, but he's not a natural 4, and in games where the opponents have a height and size advantage over us, he's not as effective as Cle was. And when you replace Wessel with either Kelly or Morris, they have no outside game what so ever so the defense can cheat inside on coverage, which leads to stunting our dribble drive game with Fred. Nurger has moments where his 3 is going to work, but opposite of Kelly or Morris, Nurger has little inside game and lacks rebounding ability at this time. So we're sitting here with different options, but both have opposite pro's and con's, both of which we had no issue with last year with Cle. Which seems obvious, but I think we've all forgotten how special Cle was, and how much better he made everyone around him. Including Fred.

Just think how sick of him I am now.
I know the talk is to figure out how to 100% fill the student section every game, but we also need to figure out how filter out those who are gaming the system. Buy a damn season ticket as a grown adult. Good grief!

Sorry if this has already been posted. In the Eagle.
“I’ve got to see it on film, but he definitely slapped me in the back of the head,” VanVleet said. “I think I bumped him and he bumped me back, and I was trying to run. He made me feel like a little kid.”
