As for Evan himself, I'll just hope he continues to regain the shooting touch and confidence he used to have. They seem to to be coming back, but they aren't there yet.
I wish Evan was 7'2" and 275 pounds with the same toughness, strength, speed and shooting. :) If he would have just worked on his height this off season instead of whatever else he chose to work on, we'd be set at the center position.

Some probably will after 3 years in the system.

Concur with the general theme of this thread. Whether we are talking JUCOs or freshman, be patient. Five games is not enough to draw any type of conclusion about new guys or returners for that matter. Returning players will generally return to the median (improve or regress). Newbies will improve or sit.

        FWIW, last year Carter/Lufile/Coleby averaged 13 and 10 on a per 40 minute basis. Nurger/Morris/Kelly are averaging 10 and 9 per 40.

I understand your point. EW is playing out of position at the 4. But I think the real problem is the 5. They don't have any serviceable centers on this team, that's why DC is the starting 5. If they had a couple of serviceable centers (notice I didn't say great, just serviceable), DC could be starting and spend most of his time at the 4, which is the position he played in high school and juco, and EW could be backing up TC at the 3 where he belongs. The 5 is the problem. They gotta develop a center.

I agree completely. Hopefully BushWam can figure things out, but other than him I don't know who can get minutes at the 5. EW plays hard but he is out of position. He gives up ALOT on the defensive end. The two 3 pointers he gave up with the shot clock running down were killers. The crowd is counting down 4-3-2, STEP UP AND MAKE HIM DRIVE. I know, I know I'm in the minority, everyone loves EW and I like how he plays, but he's far from perfect.
Does anyone else think coach Jans would have talked HCGM into pressing more and trusting the new guys a tiny bit more?

With our ships the way they are now, I will still make an outlandish observation. No doubt some of our new bigs will pan out. It is very early for 8 new players to

have all their ducks in a row. Even so, it is at least a possibility when it all comes out in the wash, that with Carter graduating we could maybe bring in one more big?

This may be a long shot and if Hamilton really pans out, it may not begin to happen. If it does happen though, I could see us signing the best Juco big we can find.

Discuss? Am I way off here? I actually wanted us to still sign Mulder which makes this observation even more far fetched. Lots of unknowns still. Will it still be 13 ships

next Season or could it change to 15?

I would think the difference on the defensive end is bigger. But great stat for comparison sake on offense.

Kelly, Nurger, and Shaq will prolly surpass the 3 from last Season sooner than later. The loss of Cle will take a committee to replace.

The brighter the lights the better Cle seemed to perform and produce.

As much as the pundits like to talk about replacing Cle's scoring, I think his length and abilities on defense has been more difficult to overcome thus far. Our newbies haven't yet figured out how to play angry but play smart at the same time.

Morris, Nurger, and Shaq are so close to being weapons. They all need to stop the fouling, but the game still seems a little fast for Rauno and Rahard.

We are missing the raw athleticism and strength at the 4 and 5 we had last year. This is seen in defense, rebounding, and less lob dunks.

IMHO, it is much more related to lack of experience and familiarity in the system than with physical traits. Kelly and Glass are very comparable to Coleby and Lufile. Morris has the athleticism, if not the jumping ability. Nurger doesn't appear to have the leaping ability, but the clips from Sunrise showed a shot-blocking ability.

Wamukota needs to develop his inner Meadowlark Lemmon and be an assist machine on offense and get tip-ins in case of a miss.
                                That is all.
