Sorry if this is somewhere else.

Baker and VanVleet are listed on the Wooden Watch list:

    3. Fred VanVleet, Wichita State
Another perfect example for the wide-open motif. VanVleet is coming off a nearly perfect sophomore season. How so? In 21 of his team's 36 games, he had one or fewer turnovers. His offensive rating was 130.3. Oh, and by the way, Wichita State went 35-1. The Shockers are unlikely to reach those Matterhorn heights again this season, but they'll still be very good. And so will VanVleet.

    7. Ron Baker, Wichita State
VanVleet begins the season with a slight awards edge over backcourt mate Baker, but don't be surprised if that trend reverses in the weeks to come. Baker is Wichita State's best pure scorer, and coach Gregg Marshall is going to spend every ounce of his considerable acumen finding ways to get Baker the ball in favorable spots. The Shockers lost Cleanthony Early to the NBA and lack an obvious low-post replacement at this point. Baker's opportunities will be robust.

      3. Ron Baker, Wichita State

      Previous ranking: 7

Last week, we noted that both Baker and teammate Fred VanVleet would hover near the Wooden Watch top 10 throughout the season, that it would take a while for either to establish himself as the obvious individual honoree. Let's put in an early notice for Darius Carter while we're at it. When Carter has been on the floor, particularly against Memphis, he's looked really solid ... and he's taking 42 percent of his team's shots thus far, which will come back to Earth but is nonetheless a good indication of his increased role.
Anyway, we're just over a week in -- it's hard to emphasize this enough -- but Baker has played the best of Wichita State's hoops so far. He's shooting it well, not committing turnovers and so on. But he's also drawn six fouls per 40 thus far, and been called for just 1.3. Take notes, Darius.
