Memphis wins the "Star War" matchup hands down.
The Shox win the "point war" by 12.

Don't be fooled by the CBU loss. Memphis has talent, and when talent gets focused it can change the look of a team quick. Kentucky anyone?

WSU/Marshall/this version of the MVC reminds me a lot of Memphis/Cal/in CUSA after Louisville/Cincy/Marquette left.

You guys can rack up Ws, bring in talent, and make good runs in the NCAAs...enjoy it.

This will be an interesting game. I think Wichita State is going to be a little bit better than predicted and I think Memphis is going to be quite a bit worse than predicted. At the beginning of the season I saw this as 4-5 point game in Wichita State's favor. Now i'm guessing a line of about Wichita State -8 or -9 comes out. I do think this will be a double digit win but I don't think we will be up by 20+ the majority of the night like we were against NMSU.

          Wichita State 79
          Memphis 66

This one might look really ugly.

I'm predicting we don't go 0-11 from three point range again and win comfortably ... 75-63

True, but look how long it took kentucky to truly get it. Memphis will improve and be a force I am sure. I just don't see how they get so much better by Tuesday. Glad we get this game early.

Yep! Glad we got NMSU, and will get Memphis early. Both teams will make us look like scheduling masters as they rack up wins in January and February.

It's absolutely mind boggling to me that a school with the basketball pedigree Memphis has will be distracted by its inconsequential football team.

                          I agree.

I don't really follow college football anymore, mainly because it's nothing but a money grab, its postseason still sucks, and it's just not that exciting to me. It's a flawed system. I also don't like how it's just trying to be controlled by 5 conferences.

I had no idea that's what the American Conference looked like and was equally unaware that Memphis was leading it. Good for them. I hope they enjoy the Liberty Bowl?

Are they playing football on Tuesday? Seems to be a copout reason to not focus on a game against a near Top 10 team.

                          ... No really, deuces.

I hadn't ever looked at it much before either. Now that I've seen it listed like that, I can say that it doesn't look a whole lot scarier than Conference USA did. It's got a handful of great teams and not much else. That's a conference that really needs WSU to come hang out with UCONN, Memphis and Cincinnati. I really want to be in that list and they really could use us. The conference just isn't that eye-popping to me as is.

It would be our first conference football title since the 1970s (actually, when we won the MVC), first 9 win season in 11 years, and first bowl in 6 years...so to me, that's anything but 'inconsequential'

Moreover, I bet schools like Boise State, Cincy, and UCF will tell you there is PLENTY of money to be made on football even being outside the power conferences.

                              I'll still be watching Tuesday.

didn't the chiefs draft Poe from memphis as a top 5 pick or something? That alone would be more impressive to me than playing in the liberty bowl.
