I agree that Rauno has good potential. As others have said he really needs to work on his strength. Considering Rauno is already 21 years old he I significantly behind the curve when it comes to building a strong body. Compare to Ron Baker, also a 21 year old. However, in terms of eligibility Rauno has plenty of time to catch up plus, if he is willing to put the work in, he should be able to progress at a good pace. That is assuming he has the willingness and desire to become more of an inside presence. Rashard is kind of the opposite of Rauno. He has a D-1 ready body but his skills need developing.

As far as potential goes I like Shaq and Zach Brown the best. Looking forward to seeing how all of our Freshmen develop over the next year and a half.

I have no doubt the rigors and challenges of D-1 basketball have been an eye opening experience for the new guys.

Henderson, Brown, Kelly, Morris, and Nurger all have big time potential. Holland can be a 4 year contributor, but his ceiling is much lower. This class is loaded on talent!

Now that might be the funniest comment ever written on SN. 😃

Junior center Rauno Nurger is a long way from home. 5,006 miles to be exact. Nurger is from Kella, a town in Estonia. Nurger played on the national team for Estonia at the 2013 FIBA U-20 European Championship. Following that, Nurger attended Sunrise Christian Academy, a prep school, where he played alongside teammate Zach Brown....

BTW Rauno's girlfriend Hannah is 5'2" so they have to hold the record for largest height differential for a couple.
Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

I have heard through the grapevine that Nurger has put on some weight and is an animal on the court this summer. Can anyone confirm?

I saw Rauno not that long ago, and I wouldn't have guessed he had changed all that much, but it wasn't watching him play.

I need to get out to the scrimmages. Unfortunately the pressures on my time the last 2-3 years just haven't allowed me the time to do so. Hopefully that will change soon.

I certainly miss the summer reports. And since God Bear will be on campus very soon, someone needs to get out there and give us a report!

                    • Its taken a little longer than some of us thought but over the last year Rauno has become the solid big guy many of us thought he would eventually be. He's become a rock solid part of our program. Ole Miss' loss is our gain.

                      • Would have really softened the blow for next year if he were still a junior.

                        • Rauno is looking good and he is far from done. He gained even more respect from me the Season he began as a redshirt, but in a move that was best for the Shocks, he took off the shirt and gave us a big helping hand. He does not mind coming off the bench and will be a big reason why it will be harder than pulling hens teeth for any foes bench-players we play this Season to outscore our deep and talented bench.
