But that isn't even as a big deal to me. I have experienced too many problems with Cox to list on this website. It sucks in general. I should not have to downplay the quality of internet and tv I receive to watch a WSU game. It's a monopoly that I will not participate in. It sucks that WSU has succumbed to this contract simply for the dollar signs. It sucks if this is the best possible option for the WSU basketball network. Over half of your fanbase is alienated with no options.
So the middle part makes sense. I can see being pissed because WSU chose to allow Cox exclusivity, but I don't see why you'd be pissed at Cox for asking for exclusivity, then when they get it, being exclusive.

Since Cox is my only cable option and Dish has horrendous internet where I'm at, it works great. I guess sometimes one can have too many options to chose from.

    • Uverse isn't even available all over Wichita because AT&T has spent the last 5 years dragging their feet and stalling its deployment. And Uverse internet is **** compared to cox. I get 100 Mbps Internet for about $65 a month whereas Uverse tops out at 45 Mbps for the same amount. And the equivalent TV packages cost just about the same.

I still would think the Cox-WSU sucks balls, but if I had an option to pay for it, I think a lot of non-Cox customers would probably pony up. But we don't because we can't. Again, ZERO option.
It sounds like there is no agreement between Cox and Uverse where Cox allows Uverse to broadcast one of Cox's channels. Has Uverse ever tried to get an agreement with Cox?

I'm pissed at Cox because they are a horrible cable company. I'm pissed that WSU would partner with a horrible cable company and put together a deal that alienates half of the fanbase through no fault of their own other than not being stuck with a horrible cable company.

Your last remarks is where you're having trouble with the whole crux of the argument. If WSU would have a partnership put together with say a KWCH, or KSCW, you could watch the games with Cox, with Dish, with UVerse, with DirectTV, with anything and anybody. When WSU partners up with Cox, only people with Cox are able to watch games. Do you grasp this?

You have Cox so it works great for you. But you're not getting the point.

If WSU signed an exclusive deal with Uverse, what would you think of the arrangement? Would you be satisfied searching for heading out to McPherson sports bars on Wednesday nights to watch games or settle around a fire, imagining what that Tekele Cotton dunk actually looks like with Mike Kennedy disturbing? This is 2014. Let's get with the program.

The problem with Cox is that their 100Mbps network runs at 0Mbps all too frequently. AT&T Uverse is WAAAY more stable than Cox's Internet service. Cox has a better television system though. So if you need stable Internet, AT&T is the better choice. If you want a better DVR system and interactive TV guide, then Cox is the better system. Customer support for AT&T, while not spectacular, is way better than Cox.

              • I might drive to McPherson to a bar if the carrier was not available to me.

I grasp what you are saying. It just doesn't make any sense. WSU owns the rights. Cox didn't force them to make the deal. Be upset with WSU.

Cox is available to you. You chose not to purchase (and I have no doubt that you have valid reasons not to). You chose not to watch WSU games. This is not the fault of Cox.

You do understand I'm not vouching for Uverse to get exclusive rights to WSU basketball games? All I'm asking for is for everybody to get a chance to watch WSU basketball, regardless of their cable/satellite provider.

My problems with Cox go way further out than just price. When I had them, their internet sucked balls. Like big balls. And the TV would constantly go out. That's just the tip of the iceberg.

                      I would highly doubt it.

Never had that problem. Any time I've thought that there were issues I'drun a throughput speed check and it would come out fine. Honestly, with how unscientific most people are, I usually just attribute any bitching and moaning to a misdiagnosis of the issue.

I am upset with WSU. Their deal sucks. It's horrible. It's horrible to their fans. It's garbage. I agree with you. WSU sucks in this regard.

Cox sucks because they are a shitty provider. I know that's probably irrelevant to the whole discussion, but I'll always take shots at Cox whenever I get the chance.

Again, I'm in total agreement with you that this is WSU's fault. I never disagreed with that fact. It's beyond moronic to have certain WSU basketball games ONLY available to a select few of a certain cable provider. It's not a good way to sell a product or reach out to a fanbase. It's just a great way to make $$$$ at all costs.

                          • Am I the only one who remembers that we only had a handful of games on tv before Cox stepped in? I also don't know if channel 12 could have shown very many more than the ones they did due to their affiliate stipulations.

So, be upset with WSU because they sold their product to the highest bidder? From what I understand the local TV stations do not even bid to show the number of games that Cox carries. Sorry, but if I'm selling my product the highest bidder is going to get my attention.

While this is absolutely true, and a good thing, the real complaint is the blackout of games that would otherwise be available if Cox didn't black them out.

What I'm not sure about is if FSMW would even have a game to pick up if Cox wasn't there filming.
