  • Rick Bozich keeps WSU at #8 this week! He says in his blog that he wasn't going to penalize WSU for a 1 point OT loss on the road to a top 25 team. He also ranks UNI at #21.

    • Dave Borges has WSU at #6 this week! He does not rank either UNI or Seton Hall but he does put Utah on his ballot for the first time ranking them at #19.

        • Mark Berman drops WSU 6 spots from his ballot last week down to #13 (behind Utah). He leaves UNI off of his ballot but says he considered them for #25 but went with Iowa instead. No Seton Hall on his ballot.

          • Bret Strelow also drops the Shocks 6 spots. He has WSU at #14 this week (right behind #13 Utah). No UNI or Seton Hall on his ballot.

Jerry Carino's analysis of his ballot is interesting. It appears that WSU may be the new Ku. Beat WSU and you gain 12 spots in the polls or you get ranked!

Analysis: The big winner this week is Utah, which climbs 12 spots after edging Wichita State . . . . . . Why not 7-0 Seton Hall? No Top 50 wins. Beat Wichita Tuesday, and the Pirates will make everyone’s ballot next week.

                • The average of the 7 ballots we have seen so far would put WSU at #11. I would certainly be happy with that. Still 7 is only about 10% of the total ballots.

                  • I'd say that until we get our 5 spot figured out, 14 to 16 is about right. Utah exposed that last week but St. Louis didn't have the experience or big guns to challenge us like Utah and others do. Perhaps Nurger's response to the Utah game on Saturday is a sign of things to come. If that's the case, then I would most definitely be willing to defend the higher ranking.

It will be very important for Evan AND Rauno to continue to be aggressive offensively, especially if DC does not solve his foul trouble issues...

Although many of the AP voters think like you and are putting Utah ahead of WSU, I don't think they should be. A 1pt win at home in OT tells me that on a neutral court WSU probably wins. So personally I would keep WSU ahead of Utah.

Oh, I definitely think that Wichita State is a better team and if they played that game 10 times WSU would win probably 7 or 8 of them. The rankings will end up as they should be (or at least closer) in a month or so. The problem is that Wichita State doesn't have a signature victory yet, which unfortunately is what Utah gained when they beat WSU. After Seton Hall and hopefully a match-up against a good team or two at the Diamondhead Classic, WSU should be back in the top ten. At the moment though I can't justify keeping WSU ahead of Utah when the Shox don't have anything impressive on their resume to counteract the head-to-head.
