  • I agree Cdizzle, it is pretty dumb to be talking about the Shox weak schedule at this point in the year. They will have a very solid non-conf schedule and it won't be until February that their overall SOS starts to dip away from the majority of the top 25 teams.

Right now, weak schedule should have no part in the narative unless someone is specifically looking ahead to March, such as Joe Lunardi in his bracketology. Power Rankings are supossed to be all about the here-and-now.

It will be nice that they have a shiny number next to their name. But more important than their current ranking, IMO, is that they end up a Top 50 or Top 40 type RPI team by the end of the year. That is what the selection committee looks at.
While in Atlanta last week for Thanksgiving, one of their sportswriters commented in the paper that the NCAA committee does take into consideration the poll ranking of an opponent at the time you beat them. He did not go into any great detail or explain any further.

Like if we beat #25 Utah, does this count as beating a top 25 team at the end of the season even if they say would slip as far down as say # 51?

For RPI purposes...it does not. It's all about where they finish. That's why it is important to root like heck for Utah after Wednesday...win or lose, for that matter.

I have no idea if committee members do this or not. If they do, it is absolutely stupid. Aside from a team who has a major injury mid-season, current rankings should be used in all cases. If Utah turns out to be a dud and goes to the NIT, saying they were "top 25 when we played them" is meaningless. If Utah has an amazing run and gets a 2 seed, WSU deserves to say they beat a top 10 team, not #25.

They do for football. I'm guessing that's what the sportswriter was referring to.

Glad they aren't waiting to get started on the weak schedule narrative.

Quick, name all the teams that have only played teams that were in the NCAA tournament last year.

Now, of those teams, name all the ones that still haven't lost.

How many teams were left on your list? I only had one.

Also, glad they have UNI in at 25. They are getting some traction.
Yep. If they're not impressed with our schedule so far, they probably shouldn't look at the schedules of teams like Louisville, Virginia, West Virginia or Maryland.

Oh wait. Those are power-5 conference teams. So, never mind.

By their own panel's rank of Top 25 teams, the Shox have 5 potential matchups with those teams. Not Top 100. Not Top 50. But 5 Top 25 games.

What an ignorant tool. I would almost bet money on it that it was ******* that does the nuggets. And it's a bona fide fact that he will always put KU above WSU no matter what. It's just what insecure, radio-faced clowns do.

I thought the same thing too. It has to have been *******. None of the others would have bothered with the snotty remark.

It will be interesting to see how the polls shake out tomorrow after a heavy week of hoops. I would guess we don't drop too far, probably to #12 or #13.

Where will UNI be? Seton Hall? Nebraska? Utah?

                        • I'll guess 11 or 12, maybe 13. Gonzaga, Nova, chickenhawks and SDSU pass us. Zags get punished for the 3 point loss at Zona, but won't fall as far as us. Maybe Ohio State, but only because of the BCS loving bastards.

May not affect this weeks voting but SDSU lost @Washington tonight 49-36.

I think there were some voters ready to vote SDSU ahead of us. I shouldn't happen now.

I didn't realize that they played Sunday night college football out west. Actually, if it had been football, there might have been more points scored.
