A 10,000 seat arena that meets all of the needs of the NCAA probably has as better shot of landing the tournament than a 20,000 seat arena that doesn't meet the other needs. As it stands, the NCAA is always looking for new host cities, but at the same time, has a trusted list of venues that they know can flawlessly pull off the event. New cities that bid need to have all of their ducks in a row.

If the arena has to have wifi capabilities we are toast as IBA does not have wifi. Lol.

Still curious if Wichita submitted a bid. Anyone with a buddy on the board of the Wichita Sports Commission have the scoop?

A bid was submitted that included an NCAA Experience fanfest that would stretch from IBA to Century II. WSU and the Valley were both submitted as hosts.

IBA is far from an ideal venue, but the NCAA has chosen worse sites this century for NCAA Tournaments.

            Deuces Valley.
            ... No really, deuces.

              Hotels. Hotels. Hotels.
The convention center has hosted huge events over the years. Wichita has plenty of hotels. A good shuttle service plan is all that's needed to make all the motel/hotels along Kellogg acceptable.

The NCAA requires, at minimum, 5 full-service hotels for hosting. The Days Inns and Motel 6's scattered along Kellogg do not count and are not the issue.

Yeah, there are certainly plenty of hotels for fans. I just wonder about the specific full-service hotels needed for teams, media, and event personnel that the NCAA requires and if those hotels are needed in a certain radius of the arena. As I have thought about it, Wichita certainly has the minimum 5 hotels. I just hope we have a few more over that 5 that are not considered too far from the arena.

Wyndham Gardens, Drury at Broadview, Ambassador, Double Tree by Hilton (Airport), Marriott (East), Best Western Airport, Courtyard by Marriott all have onpremise restaurants. Don't know if they have 24-hour room service, though.

Is the downtown Hyatt Regency still open? If so, I'm sure they have an on-premise restaurant.

Or perhaps Air Service, Air Service, Air Service

Also, how is IBA as far as space and amenities for the media throng. Seems like I recall reading or hearing something in the past that IBA was below par in that area.
