  • Around the Valley Non Con

It took 34-0 to get a 1 seed last season. 33-1 may or may not have been enough. Since 34-0 was never done before, it's hard to think it will be repeated (but I'm putting nothing past 3G and his Shocker Warriors).

The Valley was awful last season but a few teams played some decent competition. Our schedule wasn't the toughest but didn't have much deadweight. Still, Tennessee State, ORU and DePaul don't help you come seeding time.

This season will be an upgrade with a decent tourney (X3), Tulsa, St. Louis, Memphis, Alabama, Detroit, Utah, Seton Hall and 1 yet to be determined.

Will the rest of the Valley help out with a combination of wins and decent scheduling to swim in our wake, or will they continue to be a rock anchor?

    List and discuss.

DePaul might as well just join the Valley.

Or at least Loyola, Illinois State, Indiana State, Bradley, UIC, Chicago State, Northern Iowa, UIPUI, and Valpo.

VCU and DePaul seem to be a trend. Apparently Shaka will schedule Valley schools except WSU. What I've seen so far is not great, but not terrible. Drake's NonCon looks pretty weak, but Drake will most likely be pretty weak. We need the conference to get some big W's. We are seeing the Valley trending up in talent, but it will be mostly young next year. Most likely the MVC will again be a huge SOS drag for the Shockers.

Looks like VCU is establishing a presence, too. Where's the game with WSU?

Edit: Beat me to the punch, maniac. Guess I''m not the only one noticing -- maybe someone could point it out to ESPN?

Good heavens. That'll certainly having them flocking to the arena. Knock 'em dead, Barry.

At least they aren't playing Olivet Nazarene (NAIA indeed, from up closer to Chicago) home and home.
